5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for music-loving toddlers!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good idea but not great execution
I did extensive research on MP3 players for toddlers and I couldn't believe that this was the only durable product on the market, so I decided to get it regardless of the high price (lets not forget that this is only MP3 player with small speaker).
The good:
- very durable

- headphone jack

The bad:

This is a great product. My two-year old loves music but destroyed two CD-players by constantly pressing the buttons and opening and closing the units; I was searching for a durable MP3 player without lots of buttons and "Carry A Tune" is exactly what I was looking for. It is easy to hold, durable (has been dropped and even thrown down a flight of stairs and still worked) and allows you to download your own MP3s or children's music CDs onto it. The buttons are simple but still a little bit beyond my son's understanding. An excellent feature is the auto-off feature which saves batteries. Battery life is pretty good.

We discovered recently, however, that the unit is not waterproof when it was dropped into the bathtub by my son. Of course, it is not supposed to be waterproof. We love this so much I am going to buy another one.

I did extensive research on MP3 players for toddlers and I couldn't believe that this was the only durable product on the market, so I decided to get it regardless of the high price (lets not forget that this is only MP3 player with small speaker).
The good:
- very durable
- good sound
- headphone jack

The bad:
- the price - you can get ipod nano for less
- the hidden volume control is a great idea, but to access it you have to hold the play/stop button, which also turns on the player, therefore my kid gets into the parents menu instead of turning on the player. I forgot to mention that you have to hold on to that same button for a sec to turn it on, then you hold on again to get into the menu. In few words my 2 years old daughter lost interest pretty quick when the music doesn't come on.
- the auto shut option is also a great idea, but after the device turns itself off it doesn't remember the setting and when the toddler turns it back on it can stay on until the batteries are dead.

My daughter lost interest after 2 days and she loves music, so I got her the old fashion boom box and it works great so far. I saw that there were many good reviews and I hate to bash a product, but I want it to give one more perspective for future buyers.

We've had this player about 6 months now, and we're so happy with it that I wanted to come back and submit a review, something I rarely take the time to do.

This thing is durable! We bought it for our two year old who absolutely loves music. He has pressed the buttons manically, looking for his favorite song, and more than once thrown it down hard on the tile floor, but it still works like new. I love the volume control, something every toy should have but many don't. Also there is a ton of room for music, but I find it best to keep the playlist pretty short, so my son can more easily find what he is looking for. I do recommend using the auto off feature, or it will play until the batteries are dead.

I see that a couple of other people have had problems, but mine worked fine right out of the box. I've not had any trouble adding additional music to it, as long as the songs are in mp3 format. (I can't move stuff from iTunes.) Loading the music is easy; it's basically just drag and drop.

Bought this for my two yr.old grandson and he loves it. The preloaded songs were familiar to him and his favorites can be added. This was the only mp3 player for kids I could find where you can do that and not spend a fortune. It will be great to change them to fit his age. The only thing I could say against it is the menu is over his ability so an adult is required to do anything more than turn it on. And that's probably good. It seems to be tough even when a 4 yr.old gets a hold of it. Who by the way also loved it.

The player has held up to my 2 year-old dropping it, and he loves to choose songs for himself. It does take a while to search through the songs, but he is getting the hang of it. The hidden parental controls are great. We put music and stories on ours. The external speaker is safer on his ears than headphones. A great MP3 player for younger children!

This MP3 Player is great for kids as young as 2 years old! It comes preloaded with stories and music and there's plenty of memory left to download your toddler's favorites. It's easy to use and with the rubber housing is very durable. We take it everywhere. You always have a story or song to occupy your little one while riding in the car, on airplane trips or while shopping. It's smaller than a CD player and easy to take along. We love it! L. Peterson

Considering that it took me forever to find a music player for my toddler that didn't need him to jam headphones into his ears, I'm happy with this device. It's simple, sturdy, light and not too loud - just loud enough.

Interface with PC is easy as pie. The device has 3 folders, into which you drag and drop your mp3s. These folders are called playlists in the device menu system. Don't worry about creating your own playlists - just limit yourself to three and these folders will do the job.
You'll need a tiny Philips (x) screwdriver to insert the batteries (AAA) - which were included, if I remember correctly.
The controls are extremely simple. Be sure to read the manual properly though, the advanced controls are not immediately obvious.

A decent product that does exactly what it says on the tin.

This MP3 player is a true gem! It was a gift for my 7 year old son with autism but everyone loves it, including 9 month old baby sister and 9 year old sister, too. The sound is great. For those reviews stating it didn't work... my guess is that it was operator error. You have to hold down on the middle button for a few seconds to activate it. It is a fantastic toy that travels well and is super durable.

We bought this for my special needs son who loves music. It was perfect because we could load his music on it instead of pre-loaded music lists. He has thrown it down on tile, dropped it, chewed on it, pressed the buttons constantly (I don't think he's listened to any song all the way through) and it's still playing. It has three play lists so we can seperate favorites from "occassional likes"

Very happy with this MP3 Player for my 2yr old. One thing to keep in mind: it requires a size 1 screwdriver to change the batteries. Keep one on hand!!!
