Wow,
This review is from: Beach Blondes: June Dreams, July's Promise, August Magic (Summer) (Paperback)
I read this book in five hours. It was so good that I just could NOT find it in me to put it down and get some sleep. The characters pull you in and you feel a connection to them. There's drama and love and it's an all-around good book. If you like chick flick books, you'll love this. Don't let the number of pages discourage you. They fly by.

I really enjoyed this teen romance. It was predictable to me, but I was still glad at the turn out. It was fast paced, cute, and fun to read. It's a great summer beach book, or a winter escape (like it was for me)!

This book is better than gossip girl, the a-list, and almost any other book i read. I am in love with these books. Is there ever going to be another book after? The orginal books were written in the 90's VV i found that out from reading sombody elses reveiw (=
So heres what the book is about *3 boys *on summer *it has mystery, love, and tons of twist and turns that alot of other books lake *When summer started all Summer wanted was to find one guy to have a fling with. little did she know she would have a hard time choosing between guys. by the end of the series summer grows as a person and changes alot. and lastt.. i used to love gossip girl and the a-list but this book just geez it blew me away. i read an a-list book after i finish this book and it just didn't interest me anymore. mabye it was just that book in the series that i don't like idk but you should defently get this book (=

Summer Smith doesn't have the perfect life, or a life that anyone would want at all. She is a major klutz, always falling and bruising herself. And the guy of her dreams, Sean Valletti, not only doesn't notice her but has found someone else to be his potential girlfriend.
After trudging home through the snow and cold weather, Summer gets hit with some excellent news. Her aunt had phoned her mother to see if Summer wanted to come to Florida and visit. From the cold, hard weather to the bright, warm sun, the answer is definitely obvious to Summer and she is whisked off on a plane on her way to Crab Claw Key. Even before she arrives, Summer receives some interesting news from a lady on the plane. The lady, who turns out to be a fortune teller, tells Summer that during her adventure in Crab Claw Key, three men will enter her life. Sure, it sounded pretty lame to Summer, since she couldn't even get Sean to notice her back home. But before she knows it, her life turns into The Bachelorette, with three guys, Adam, Diver, and Seth, all showing interest in her. One may not be trustworthy, Summer can't even begin to figure out another, and the last one is totally taken. Summer knows that this summer will definitely be interesting! Aside from the boy problems and the horrible living space she must occupy, Summer gets to experience the drama with her cousin, Diana, who she hopes to win over and Marquez, who of course has some troubles of her own. Three novels in one book, going through June, July, and August, will take not only Summer but also the reader on a journey full of heartache, mistakes, and endings that will surprise us all. BEACH BLONDES literally has "beach read" written all over it. The perfect book for some fun in the sun. Reviewed by: Randstostipher "tallnlankyrn" Nguyen

Back when teen series were good and simple,

This is one of the original teen series it was written in the 90s before all of the Gossip Girl and other clone like series came out. The main character Summer (who the series is named after) goes to the Keys to stay with her snobby and also depressed and suicidal cousin Diana for the summer on the way she's whining about some guy back home in Minnesota who doesn't notice her and sits next to a tarot reader on the plane who tells her she's going to meet three guys and one of them is going to be the one for her while there she meets a girl named Maria Marquez who becomes her best friend and also in my opinion is the best character in the series. She's wild and crazy but also smart and has big dreams of going to an Ivy League school. The first guy she meets is Seth (they are THE original Seth and Summer) who is obviously the one but he has a jealous ex girl named Lianne who can't seem to get the fact that it's over so she takes up with a rich guy named Adam who used to date her cousin and finds out he's part of the reason Diana is so depressed. The other guy is Diver who practically lives on the beach and he's kind of mysterious and by the end of the series we find out why. This is three books in one. They came out a month apart notice the titles with the months in them, so unlike now with Gossip Girl you didn't have to wait six months to see what happens next. I read them when they original came out in the 90s. And I still have them! They are still a fun read that is actually appropriate for middle school girls (the people who really read young adult books) unlike so many of the books that come out now. Please give this book a try and when you read the 90s references keep in mind that was when it was written!

Too flimsy and should be read in the summer only,
This review is from: Beach Blondes: June Dreams, July's Promise, August Magic (Summer) (Paperback)
So this book was... long. I was pining for this book since the beginning of summer; it was the perfect summer read! Then I started reading it.. and the story never seemed to end. I feel like when I was 200 pages in, that nothing REALLY happened.. I guess that's the point of why it's a summer read right? It's still summer here, weather goes up to 35 celsius (HOT!) so its not the season, but I think its about what represents summer. In summer we have all the time in the world to do ANYTHING, while now, I'm scrambling to juggle my studies, going out, sleeping, reading, and updating our blog! So very stressful, takes the joy out of a summer read.
Now let's get down to the actual reviewing. While this book was long, I did find it entertaining, atleast in some stories (with a book this long there had to be more side stories). It is told from almost 3 people's POVs, Summer, Marquez, and Diana. At first I found summer naïve, Marquez great, and Diana just plain old depressing. But as the story progressed and Summer started falling for every guy alive (really?) and Marquez with her ex-boyfriend trouble (again enjoyable), and Diana finally getting out of her funk and standing up for herself (you go girl!) I started looking forward to Diana's chapters the most. I truly admired her resilience to finally stand up for herself, no matter how big and rich the opponent is. Summer honestly dragged the story, its first deciding who she loves out of all these guys, then keeping him at an arm's length because she's afraid of getting hurt (summer fling and all), then it's about her family issue (I don't want to post spoilers). I just feel like her story dragged a bit. All in all, I think I read this book at the wrong time so my review might have been different if say, I read it during my summer break, but I'm glad I finally got to read it and get it out of my system, no more pining!. The next book in this series is "Tan Lines". I probably wouldn't buy it, but if I could borrow it or find it online for a cheap price I might get it and save it for next summer. We always want those summer books at some point. |
