The Beach Boys' catalog has been mangled and exploited to a nearly unprecedented degree. Even few pop groups' music rewards the persistent listener and collector as does the Beach Boys'. Doe and Tobler do a service to both casual and committed fans; they offer a guide to most of the groups' (legitimate) releases, accompanied by (sometimes amusingly biased) commentary. One of the better entries in this series of cd- sized reference books, and a worthwhile addition to any Beach Boys fan's collection.

A compact guide to the music of the Beach Boys, whose CD catalog has been neglected and mangled. A great overview of all of their songs and albums, some of which are the most important in rock history. This also tells the story of three brothers, their cousin, and neighbor. It covers their successes, trials, and tragedies.
