5.0 out of 5 stars The revealed truth of jazz
This is certainly the best jazz reissue in a very long time. Funky, polyrhythmic, and with Pete Cosey on guitar! (of Miles Davis' Agharta period band.) What more do you want? Phil Cohran was in Sun Ra's Arkesta,as you might already know. You must hear this one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Someone please remaster this
The music on this disc gets five stars - fantastic playing, amazing arrangements, and grooves that are soulful and moving to both the body and the mind. It is a perfect amalgam of world, soul, and avant-garde jazz.

Unfortunately, the recording quality is another story altogether. There is audible static throughout, volume distortion, problems with the left channel cutting out and distorting, and even audible talking in the background at points. The album sounds as if it was transferred from vinyl, to tape, and then to CD. You would think that when a record label reissues an album this classic, they would do everything possible to perfect the sound quality of the original recording. Not so here. If you are in any way an audiophile, don't buy this disc.
