This review is from: Beachbody Power 90 - 3 Powerful Workouts! (DVD)
I purchased this series after getting P90X because I was able to do the weight training but cardio vascularly I was way out of shape for the cardio workouts. I used the 3-4 sweat and ab ripper 200 and excelled in a few weeks to use the P90X Kempo and Cardio X. I am now using the Sculpt 3-4 when I just do feel up to the P90X grueling weight routines.
This is a very solid program and if one USES it, the problem I feel most people have with exercise programs-they dont use them, you WILL make gains in ALL areas of fitness. The description is misleading as there are 6 workouts in the series. Sweat 1-2 and 3-4, Sculpt 1-2 and 3-4, Abs ripper 100 and 200 and these are good graduated progressions. I would probably warm up a little more with some cardio before the Sculpt, something Tony includes in P90X, and I would include stretching also. With that said I still highly recommend this series it is a great bang for the buck especially on this 2 DVD set. The best to you and your health...JB

This review is from: Beachbody Power 90 - 3 Powerful Workouts! (DVD)
I got this DVD which contains, Scupt, Sweat and Ab Ripper segments, plus another DVD that was a 30 minute fat burning workout.
Tony Horton is a good instructor, however the Sculpt was a bit mild for me since I was already doing weight training and also Jackie Warner's One on One Workout. Sculpt is really good though. Mostly I use this DVD for the Sweat workout.
Sweat covers power yoga, kickboxing moves, stretching and basic aerobics. A timer on the side shows how long each segment is, how long til break, stretch etc. I get a fantastic aerobic and muscle workout from the Sweat segment alone. You can do the 1-2 level or 3-4 level, as this is a 2 DVD set. One thing I will say, and it's my opinion only, is if you watch the background people, Lisa and Paul behind Tony, pay more attention to the form Paul uses, especially in the cross punch segment. Lisa seems to be going through the motions, while Paul's form (since he boxes) will give you a better idea of how to execute the movement for maximum benefit. Overall this video is fun to do.
Ab Ripper is 4 minutes, but you do 100 reps total by doing 10 each of a different movement. Be careful on some of them if you have a bad back - modify the movement as needed.
I bought this before P90X came out. I'm very excited to try P90X but this DVD is excellent. It came in a set w/ Power 90 Fat Burning Express which is a 30min DVD. I can review that after I've done it a few times.
P90 is worth the money for a no nonsense workout all on one DVD. I supplement this with Jackie Warner's 1 on 1 workout. I do Power sweat, then either Upper, Lower or Core from Jackie's DVD which are 20mins each. This is the first time DVD's have actually WORKED for me and kept me interested. I look forward to doing Power 90 daily. After a while though, Tony may get on your nerves and you'll want to mute and put some upbeat music on! LOL Hope this helped.

This review is from: Beachbody Power 90 - 3 Powerful Workouts! (DVD)
I purchased The Power90 dvd to be able to have cardio and stength training in one. It's a great work-out,the cardio portion is tough but doable and you're done before you know it! The strength portion is 28 minutes of weight training. Tony takes you through it quickly but you know you are working those muscles!! I recommend this to anyone wanting to get a good workout in the comfort of your home. No gym required to get a good work-out!
