Editorial Reviews

Welcome back to Blue Nose Island. Ploo decides to plant some bellvine outside his house and Dig goes to search for beachmoles on Blue Nose Beach. But nothing is as simple as it seems on the magical island where they all have blue noses! This work is beautifully read by Samantha Bond.

Ploo and the Terrible Gnobbler (Blue Nose Island)

I first read one of these books at my son's pediatrician's office. I went home and ordered all three. They are so adorable, charming and clever. The art work is gorgeous. The stories hold our attention over and over, because there is nothing "formula" about them, these are very unique stories. I hope they make them into a movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet and Clever, July 17, 2006
I bought this book because my almost 5-year-old son and I have both loved Kipper for years. We also have the Mick Inkpen Treasury, which includes our favorite bedtime stories.

Mr. Inkpen is a genius of clever stories with soft, cuddly characters. He employs amusing words and the stories are unfailingly gentle and sweet, but at the same time very absorbing.

I recommend this book particularly to anyone who loves to read bedtime stories to their children. The child will love it and it's so sweet and clever, you won't get tired of reading it night after night after night. I bought the book for my son, but I love it just as much and look forward to reading it to him.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun bedtime story., January 31, 2012

MJK "MJK" (Great white north) - See all my reviews
Once again, Mick Inkpen manages to illustrate and write a children's book that captivates a child. My son received this at 4 o 5 and still likes it today at 7.

Each illustration that accompanies the story line is very visually appealing to children. The characters and landscape are mostly ovals and circles which are very comforting to a child. The colors are brilliant and the story line is easy to follow and to read by a small elementary aged child.

The reason for the four star is that I'm sincerely uncertain if I am pronouncing the unusual names properly. It's also not easy to pronounce them for a child. I wish that he would have created silly names that my son could have had an easier time "sounding out".

None the less, it's a clever and charming book.
