5.0 out of 5 stars Great explanations and clear photos make for great jewelry., March 13, 1999
This review is from: Bead Work: Get Started in a New Craft With Easy-To-Follow Projects for Beginners (Start-a-Craft Series) (Hardcover)
I've been making jewelry for years. But I've always had trouble with more complicated designs, and some really overwhelmed me. This book has about twenty different projects, all are pretty, but the instructions are the best. Everything is step by step and can be adapted to numerous variations. Materials are explained, and resources in the back help you find your materials. Just a really great book! I've made four of the projects so far, and they look professional. It also showed me how to repair some of my broken jewelry...even to restring a pearl necklace....

5.0 out of 5 stars Best jewelry book for beginners!, August 31, 2002
This review is from: Bead Work: Get Started in a New Craft With Easy-To-Follow Projects for Beginners (Start-a-Craft Series) (Hardcover)
I have looked at a lot of jewelry making books and reviewed a few on Amazon. Not all of the jewelry designs in this book appeal to me, but I have to say that this is the very best book I've seen for beginners. Other books say they are for beginners, but are still difficult to follow without having some prior experience. The processes used for constructing these mostly attractive necklaces, earrings and bracelets are clearly evident in large, close-up photos and provide the beginner with all the basic techniques. Once you've learned the techniques from this book, you should be able to graduate to other, more difficult jewelry-making books. Just take this book with you to the local bead store, point out the materials you need, and they'll help you find them and you'll be ready to create!
