A nice little book. I would say this is one that you would check out at the library for inspiration but not really a keeper.

5.0 out of 5 stars great for bead embroidery, July 19, 2007

The English translation is excellent in this book and the pictures all in color show everything (actual stitching with the beads) full size. After the introductory material on beads, threads, etc, she begins with the most basic stitches arranged in family groups. There are line stitches, filling stitches, looped, detached and variations including sequins and flowers. The book is great for embroidery on any material including knit fabric but it is also a good starting point for making jewelry that involves embroidery with beads. There are no projects except for the cover sampler. Some of the stitches included are: outline, couching, satin, long and short, fishbone, rose, petal, lazy daisy, chain, fly, feather, twisted chain, leaf, raised stitches, etc. The binding seems pretty sturdy and the print is also good size. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exquisite details!, March 11, 2008
This review is from: Bead Embroidery (Paperback)
You are taken through the basic steps that might mystify you before you start, such as finishing off thread. The exquisite details will help in getting you through the stages of the embroidery. The pages of the book are stiff and you need a book stand with clips to keep it open. I found the variety of stitches demonstrated inspiring and will go back to the book as I progress in a project. An important detail not included was the angle of a needle to have a bead sit straight (found in another book). Excellent referral source.

I haven't had a chance to try the techniques out yet but in thumbing through the pages this one looks by far the best bead embroidery book I've seen as far as illustrations and easy to understand instructions go.

If you are about to start with bead embroidery - this is a great book for you. After going through it you will know how beads and embroidery can match together.
It is small and handy book. I am happy I got it. It gave me ideas and imagination what can be done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bead Embroidery, March 4, 2009
This review is from: Bead Embroidery (Paperback)
This is a beautiful book with excellent illustrations and techniques. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to add an extra sparkle to clothing, wall quilts, or home accessories. The patterns are nice, but the individual components (leaf stitch, twisted chain stitch, etc) are unique and can be used to create your own original patterns.

This is a very beautiful book. The pictures are outstanding and printed on heavy, high gloss paper. As a beginner, I found the instructions not as clear as I like. My issue, not the writer.

...and I own several. This book shows basic embroidery stitches with beads added as you go. I love it and will take it to Staples soon to have it wire bound so the pages lay open.
