This is a very nice little book on knitting with beads. I've been looking for a book on the topic of knitting beaded bags for quite a while and this one explains it very well. The DVD really shows you how to do it. My only complaint (a small one) is that the DVD is a little hard to figure out. It shows how to knit both from the left and the right which is confusing if you choose the wrong one. Also, there is no audio on the DVD, which is ok, as long as you're aware of it. The DVD also contains the patterns in the book so you can print them off to carry around with you and your project. She also provides you with graph templates so you can design your own. Really a useful book.

I am not only a bag maker but a beaded bag maker and I did have to learn the hard way from the old 1900 books but if you have been wanting to learn how to accomplish bead knitting this is a MUST have book. It comes with a CD which for me is an invaluable tool to learning. I love everything about this book and CD. It is laid out very nicely and for me everything is very clear and easy to follow. Plus in my opinion the patterns are timeless again this would be a great addition to your knitting library.

This book is beautifully illustrated. Backed up with a great dvd. Projects are exquisite. Very easy-to-understand instructions. It would help if some suppliers for the projects were suggested. Even a novice to knitting would be able to tackle some of the designs, with a little help from a patient friend. Very good basic knitting tutorials included.

I taught myself to bead knit with an old magazine article, waaaaay back when there weren't any books on bead knitting. This one is very nicely laid out, pretty and inspiring, and I think anyone just starting to learn would do well with it. I didn't keep it, because my primary interest is in creating 20's style flapper bags like the wonderful enameled mesh purses of the time, and this book does not contain any useful information on using the little metal snap-frames that characterized them. However, for technique and a launching-pad to design your own (the most exciting part), it's a very nice book--certainly better than any of the competitors available.

This is a nice book that explains all basics for bead knitting in detail and contains beautiful patterns. It was easy to follow the instructions (even if I'm knitting "European style" which is only explained in a short paragraph).
However, be aware that some of the word patterns contain some errors. Make sure to double-check the word patterns by comparing them with the graphs (visual patterns) that are also provided for each project. The author's website is listed in the book and you can find corrections to some of the errors there.
I can only recommend this book it you want to try bead knitting!

I have been interested in bead knitted bags and this book is the first book on the subject in a long while. The wonderful suprise was the CD. You can choose to view right-handed or left-handed instructions. As a left-hander who learned to knit right-handed, the CD has the best examples of left-handed knitting I have ever seen. Even if you don't want to bead knit, the CD is worthwhile just for the left-handed knitting instruction. And the knitted bags are great too.

The DVD that is included with this book is wonderful - only wish there was at least some music or someone explaining what is actually happening - but it is very helpful be be able to see how the stitches are done with the beads. Like how the knitting instructions are with the patterns. The patterns are a little more advanced then ones I have seen in other books.

Wonderfully illustrated. Great book for thoose who want to learn this art. The DVD really helps you to visualize the stitches, making sure you are getting them right.

What I loved about the book:

1. The author included a DVD to actually show the stitch tutorials
2. The DVD footage was great--very close and detailed video
3. She included a bracelet and necklace design in her book, not just bags (I'm a beader so I appreciated that)
4. The DVD includes left and right instructions (although I'm right handed, the DVD is helpful for those who are left handed).

What I would have liked to see in the book/DVD (why I rated it four stars):

1. Audio to help explain the stitches
2. A sampler project on the DVD (a bracelet or a simple purse)
I hope the author plans to write/videotape a sequel to this book/DVD. I'd like to see more of a mixture of projects in the book (including more jewel designs for us beaders), and sampler project(s) in the DVD.

The pictures are great, the explanations thourough and the CD was a wonderful addition. I printed out the pattern I was working on so I could mark through it as I worked to keep track of my place. Blank pattern sheets was a great idea. Also, I emailed the author with a question and she responded right away!
