5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for all seed beaders!!
If you love beads and beadweaving, this book is a must have.
I received the book yesterday and I could not put it down. I have read it from cover to cover and cannot wait to start. It is not very often that a book grabs my attention as this one has.
It is perfect for all levels of beaders...some of the projects are easy enough for a beginner...rated one...

3.0 out of 5 stars Beaded Allure
It is not what I expected. The projects are for beginners and I like to do more of the advanced work. However, it is a good book for starters. WF

It is perfect for all levels of beaders...some of the projects are easy enough for a beginner...rated one star, and yet there are plenty of projects to build upon as your skill levels increase two star and three star for advanced.
The stitches used in this book are not stitches you'll see in most beading books. There are a lot of netting variations (new to me) and peyote. The photos and step by step directions are great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romantic and Elegant, April 2, 2010
This review is from: Beaded Allure: Beadweaving Patterns for 25 Romantic Projects (Paperback)
This book is for seed beaders who love romantic, elegant, feminine styles.
The introduction introduces you to the tools and stitches you'll be using including how to make pretty little picots, a wonderful explanation of a circle stitch technique, diagonal peyote and tubular brick as well as the more common stitches. After that, you get into the projects.
The projects are mouthwatering if you love romantic jewelry like I do. They have easily gotten components such as rivolis and seed beads. The first project is a fringed netted princess length collar that's fairly simple to make, after that, the projects get more complicated, intricate and gorgeous. The Dew Drop Bracelet is a pretty little heirloom lace netted bracelet with a ruffled dimensional flower as the centerpiece and in the center of that, a sparkly rivoli. The Reversible Pendant Lariat features a long net beaded rope finished off with a pair of rivolis on each end that are bezeled so whichever side shows they look wonderful.
Scallops, flowers and netting techniques done with a lot of sparkle are the focus of this book.
If it seems like 25 projects aren't that many, it's a nice sized book because the projects are explained and photographed in exquisite detail with new techniques taking pages to explain so it's almost like being taught in person. New seed beaders may find some of it difficult, but they will be able to learn the techniques from this book. People who have been doing it for years will find projects they will love in here and be inspired to mix and match components and techniques to create their own masterpieces.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't wait to get started, April 1, 2010

This review is from: Beaded Allure: Beadweaving Patterns for 25 Romantic Projects (Paperback)
I never write reviews - but I'm always looking at others reviews, especially about the beading books.
I just received this book and I can't wait to start on the necklace on the cover.
I enjoy beadweaving, having just finished a beaded bezel on a rivoli.

I bought this book a few reasons:
1) I love a beading challenge. These pieces are intricate and involved. But the components repeat - so it doesnt look impossible.
2) I like the look of old victorian-like jewelry. These pieces all have a traditional (not stuffy) timeless look.
3) Kelly or the publisher was nice enough to grant permission to reproduce these pieces. Being a beading enthusiast who makes jewelry to sell at craft fairs, I was sold.
4) All of these patterns look unique. You just won't find these works of art in a store.

gotta go order seed beads...

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and great for begginers as well!, June 20, 2011
This review is from: Beaded Allure: Beadweaving Patterns for 25 Romantic Projects (Paperback)
I have only done 2 weaving bracelet patterns in my life. I was in search of something more ... and I wanted too do necklaces with a vintage feel. However most weaving magazines are VERY complicated and never clear. When I got this book and saw the patterns I fell in love. I have been making jewelry for 4 years, but was new too bead weaving. I found this book easy, and clear!! Lots of wonderful pictures and easy instructions. No confusing diagrams and technical wording that you would get lost with. You might have too know some weaving terms too understand how the project will develop, however she explains those terms at the beginning of the book so you will not get lost. All the necklaces, bracelets and earrings are beautiful and look like they would be intimidating, but the directions make this ridiculously easy. I would always look at necklaces like these and think I could never do such a thing, but anyone can with this book! You just have too pay attention too the directions, and take your time. Bead weaving isn't for people who like to take shortcuts and make a rushed finish project in an hour. However that goes with the territory of this style of beading. So if you have been stuck in a rut with basic bracelet weaves and want too do something else that has a stunning finish, but was simple.... get this book!! What else is wonderful about it is how all the projects had little individual techniques that allows you too create your own masterpiece ... so it's not just limited too her projects, you can use them in sooo many ways. I for one never thought setting a rivoli was so easy till I got this book. Buy it and enjoy endless options! I will keep going back too this one time and time again! The only way anyone could ever say that this book was confusing is if they didn't actually read the directions and take their time!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beaded Allure, January 20, 2011

This review is from: Beaded Allure: Beadweaving Patterns for 25 Romantic Projects (Paperback)
I have an extensive library of books related to beading, chain maile and other 3 Demensional arts. This book is the best of all of them. The projects themselves are amazing and beautiful. None of my other books and magazines have anything like the projects in this book. Usually I find seveal projects I don't care for, however my goal with Beaded Allure is to finish all the projects and give them as gifts. The written instructions are very easy to understand. There is no assumption the reader already knows how to do any of the stitch steps. Along with the photos showing what to do with each step even a beginning beader should be able to do most of the projects in the book. For the beginner I highly recommend starting with the Tiara Necklace. A wonderful gift for ladies of all ages and along with the earrings and bracelt an ensenble for any bride. 5 Stars on this book.

I had this book out of the library for so long, making its projects, that I finally had to purchase it.

The completed pieces are lovely and were lots of fun to make. The book includes a wide assortment of designs, and I found the photo-based directions to be easier to follow than some of the sketches presented in other books and in magazines.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this book. Although I have not heard of the author, I was very impressed by the designs featured. The projects get more complex in stitch and design as you progress through its pages. It makes a great addition to any bead addict's library. Her directions seem pretty thorough and include color illustrations. Less confident/experienced beaders may not feel there is enough instructional illustration and in this case I would suggest beaded magazine websites which have a lot of illustrated instruction on various beadweaving stitches. I would also think that an email to the author would elicit help from her.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE this book!, January 8, 2011
This review is from: Beaded Allure: Beadweaving Patterns for 25 Romantic Projects (Paperback)
I loved this book the moment I saw it in a book store. I didnt buy it though, I had just started beadweaving and the pieces looked intimidating. I bought it after getting some experienced with beadweaving and I love it! All of the projects are beautiful and delicate. I already started making the Dewdrop Flower Bracelet (my favorite piece). I got stuck a couple of times, but it wasnt for too long. I've seen a lot of books, but this is the only one I've wanted. I recommend this book to every beader.

5.0 out of 5 stars beading and passion rolled into one, December 12, 2010

This review is from: Beaded Allure: Beadweaving Patterns for 25 Romantic Projects (Paperback)
I love this book. I have already made 4 pieces and plan to do more. Seldom do I purchase such a book that has more than one or two items I really want to make. The instructions are well written and the pictures/diagrams are very helpful. The only thing that would have been more helpful would have been a resource guide for materials. I have not had much luck finding some of the materials, especially the "drops" This is a best buy book!!
