I finally know what to do with all the "weird" Beads I just had to have for no other reason than they looked different. I love the Picture instructions on beading cabs. I would liked to have seen more of these types of instructions. That is my only complaint. If you can see the patterns in your head the written instructions are clear enough. Her chapter on tools and materials is very good and she even explains the types of threads most books do not cover as well as the glues, scissors, needles, hoops and frames and even includes the newest craze, Fire Line and Power Pro. Chapter 2 is all about beads including my "weird" beads.
Her pictures are beautiful and most are nicely detailed so you can see the beads used and you get an idea on color combinations. Every bead book should be spiral bound so they can lay flat like this one!

Having forgotten that I had ordered this book before it was published, I was pleasantly surprised when it came yesterday. Wow, am I glad that I ordered it! It provides great information about beading on various types of fabrics, the different types of beads and tips as well as things to watch out for from the author. I am new to beading and have been wanting to add it to my quilt blocks and hand made clothing for a while. This book has a large number of her completed pieces in full color and provides explanations for the techniques she used on each one. I found this to be a very helpful and inspiring book, and will recommend it to my friends who are wanting to begin beading as well. Great job, Ms. Van Horn.

I have been TRYING to bead on fabric for several months now. When I received this book I sat and read it from cover to cover. I can say that I will now be able to bead on fabric without any problems. This is the best book I have ever come across on beading on fabric. It gives you instructions for beading on all types of fabric. The pictures are great and the instructions are easy to understand. If you have money for only one book and you want to make your beading on fabric more professional looking, this is the book to buy!

One of the absolute best primers on bead embroidery I've seen.,

Lately a few people have been asking me which book I would recommend for learning bead embroidery. This is it folks.
Interweave Press has a history of fantastic books, and this one lives up to that history. It's spiral bound in a hard cover so it will lie flat while you're working, and it's laid out logically for the absolute beginner in bead embroidery. The first chapter covers tools, the second is about beads, the third chapter explains the different types of bead embroidery, it goes on to stitches and projects. There are gorgeous and inspiring examples throughout the book, and the illustrations of technique are easily understandable. Bead embroidery doesn't have to be scary, it's a fun technique that's able to do things woven beads won't do. This book will take a lot of the mystery out of it for you. And yes, when my friends ask "Can you recommend a good book for learning bead embroidery?" I tell them about this one. It's really that good.

This book was a real inspiration for me to try free-form bead embroidery. The information on supplies and techniques is helpful, but I found the pictures of her work were the most valuable part of the book, giving me all sorts of ideas to try in my own beading.
Some might think this book is only a showcase of one beader's work, and it is, but that is what makes it useful.

The elements of beginning and more advanced bead embroidery on fabric are covered in a friendly discussion approach, offering you choices after an explanation of an element. The details are well done and understandable; and the book is very easy to use since it is spiral bound. The illustrations are inspiring because they show fabrics and combinations that you can use as a basis for your own creations. The variety of stitches are shown in the detail necessary to give a professional looking result.

Clear illustrations for a beginner like me.,
This review is from: Beading on Fabric: Encyclopedia of Bead Stitch Techniques (Spiral-bound)
I have not done alot of beading. This books instructions and illustrations are very clear. I am not planning on creating art pieces like the author, but would like to start working on my own belly dance costumes. This book had the basic beading on fabric and fringe variations. Just what I needed.
