5.0 out of 5 stars Fast, fun and fabulous

3.0 out of 5 stars Beadwork creates Beaded Beads
I have a similar book, and only found one of the patterns of interest to me, however, someone who doesn't have a book on this subject might like it. I sent it back, since it duplicated a lot of things in my other book, and I felt it cost a lot considering the few projects it had.

BeadWork has created a number of these slim books with tempting pictures and tightly edited instructions. With Beaded Beads, even the beginning beader can have a lot of fun creating usable pieces in a short time.
Jean Campbell deserves a lot of credit for keeping the information to just the facts. Occasionally, one more diagram would be useful, but I'm a slow learner without lots of pictures. The beginner should know that there are two help sections in the back of the book--'Tips' and 'Stitches'.
The sections are a real plus. With these instructions, even a novice bead addict can produce the beads shown, and advanced beaders can move on from these instructions to create their own work.
New projects start on the right page, with the glorious picture on the left. Great layout, type you can read, and a wide variety of projects make this a book you need for your studio. Only change I'd make it to wire-bind the book so that it lies flat when in use. --Q

4.0 out of 5 stars NOT FOR A BEGINER, Still a NICE book 3 & 1/2 Stars, October 16, 2005

The Color throughout the book is inspiring But as I have found with other books by Jean Campell is that she seems to take it for granted anyone who picks up her book is already an experenced beader. I had to put her books away till I DO become someone who can do as she expects. I do not get her magazine for this reason. No clear instructions for a "dummy" like me.
If you do know your beadwork and can follow instructions easily then you will like this book. She does have a chapter of instructions But What I find helpful is pictures of actual hands doing the work "step by step" There are a few magazines that do this and I catch on much faster.

2.0 out of 5 stars frustrated beader, August 29, 2009
This review is from: Beadwork Creates Beaded Beads (Paperback)
I tried to make one of the beads, but the instructions were completely inadequate, so I was pretty frustrated after my first attempt. In the list of materials it said you needed seed beads in five colors and only colors A, B and C were mentioned. There were no bead patterns added, so after a few hours I gave up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful beads don't have to be difficult to make!, January 21, 2008
By
This review is from: Beadwork Creates Beaded Beads (Paperback)
This book shows you how to make embellished beads with simple and straightforward instructions. The pictures and descriptions are concise and easy to follow. Having a short attention span, I like to see success, if not completion, within a relatively short period of time. Projects that take me lots of time to create don't often get finished. The beads in this book are fairly quick to make, providing an inspiring foundation upon which your creativity can build. Who said that beautiful beads had to be fussy and difficult to make or require expensive materials?

Nice pictures and interesting designs but this is for the more advanced beader. As a beginner, I've found most of the instructions impossible to follow.

3.0 out of 5 stars Beaded Beads, October 24, 2005
By
This review is from: Beadwork Creates Beaded Beads (Paperback)
Nice concise little book with 30 different styles of beaded beads. Well-illustrated, with pretty clear instructions. Some of the instructions could have been a little more detailed, and I would advise only for someone with some experience with the different stitches.

5.0 out of 5 stars Each design can be completed in 30 minutes or less, August 8, 2003
This review is from: Beadwork Creates Beaded Beads (Paperback)
The first book to be specifically devoted to this unique form of needlecraft, Beadwork Creates Beaded Beads: 30 Designs is compiled and edited by author, artist, and beadwork expert Jean Campbell. Each bead project is suitable for both the novice and the experienced beadworker, and offers a pattern enhanced with a materials and notions list, clear step-by-sept instructions, illustrations, and color photography. Each design can be completed in 30 minutes or less and ranging from Doris Coghill's Crystal Cluster (featuring Czech cut crystal rondelles huddled around wire) to Diane Fitzgerald's Star Flower (utilizing bi-cone, rice, round, or oval fire-polished or faceted beads. Beadwork Creates Beaded Beads is a unique, "user friendly", and very highly recommended addition to any dedicated needlecrafter or jewelry maker reference collection.
