As the title says, over 2x the retail price and now they have a V6 that is standard. All the legit suppliers have discontinued selling this all together. In light of that, I would say that this should be the $55 or so MSRP especially since it's out of date. The newer one has 2x the internal memory (4GB) instead of 2 here.

Don't buy, please, we should not be supporting these companies who are taking advantage of a shortage in production. Once they get production up to demand, the BBB will have had a number of upgrades, I do not think for a moment that the manufacturer and all sellers were well aware, a long time ago that these would be in short supply and ALL of them have stood by the MSRP, haven't looked at EBay, but you know that that is the breeding grounds for all these scoundrels who come here.

They have been selling this item for some time now at this price and it's no wonder that they seem to have never sold out when it has been virtually impossible to get hold of one since release without a lot of hard watching and phone calls regularly.

If you can at all get it from adafruit, get it there, they are going to be your main source for all the capes, shields and other paraphernalia you will buy once you get this anyway, most likely, unless you would rather save a couple $ and end up using the adafruit tutorials as they have the best and most comprehensive of anyone. They post the next delivery date and have an email signup.

Average $45 retail price. 512MB RAM, 2GB eMMC. Enough to run Debian quite well. Makes a great little stand alone PC for ssh sessions and IRC. No need for keyboard/video. Real Ethernet which the Pi lacks. Pi does Ethernet over USB, not native like the BBB. All in all, a fun "PC" you can do anything with! I would imagine the Debian GPIO package would work on the BBB like it does on the Pi.

Verified Purchase
Very well made but since this is my first development board its hard to compare. If you are buying this as your first developing board there are some prerequisites, first know Python programming language and have a little background in electronics. So if this is your first with out having prerequisites you will have little fun and a lot of frustration. So I recommend for first timers to start off with velleman pic programming boards or arduino and work your way to beaglebone black.
