Product Description

Give your next small project a spectacular finish quickly and easily with this set of three 8" diameter buffs, compounds, and a quick-change adapter. Give your next small project a spectacular finish quickly and easily with this set of three 8" diameter buffs, compounds and a quick-change adapter. Whether you're polishing an oil finish on a box, buffing the scratches out of a turned bowl or platter, or finishing pen blanks, this system will leave a glass smooth surface on whatever you hold to it. The secret to the system is that the dozens of soft cloth layers apply compound evenly without rounding over sharp features and edges. The wheel actually splays out slightly to conform to the shape being buffed. The all-flannel tripoli buff will level out the finish and remove any scratches. The flannel/cotton mix white diamond buff takes out any remaining small scratches and begins to polish. The all-cotton carnauba wax buff yields a high gloss polish similar to a lacquer finish. Changing buffs takes seconds with the quick-change adapter. It adjusts to fit 1/2" or 5/8" motor arbor shafts (1/2 HP or larger, 1725 RPM motor recommended). The optional #2 Morse taper mandrel enables you to use the buffs on the lathe (you'll have to make a 1/4"-20 drawbar to hold it in place)The compounds will last for years when used moderately. Not for use in a hand-held drill. System includes: 3 buffs, quick-change adapter, 3 compounds and complete instructions.

I found it fast process, Fun to use and Great look of natural wood shine.

For woodworkers, do not try to buff until finished sanding at least 300 grit! I tried buffing after 220 grit (hardwood Jatoba, Poplar) and it looks poor.
Good sanding and you get great buff!!!
Wood looks shiny and natural (difficult to achieve in any other way)
You can change the color of the wood (darker brown) by adding a bit more of Tripoli bar (brown.
My set worked well in an inexpensive ryobi grinder which was not recommended (only 1/4 HP and 3,000 RPM.

I was introduced to the Beall system at a turning class. I was impressed. So I went home and ordered it for myself. I continue to be impressed. It doesn't take the place of sanding, but what a finish!

Really cuts down the time I spent polishing my wood turnings. Even requires less sanding to prepare to polish. One negative: MAKE SURE YOU ARE WEARING RESPIRATORY PROTECTION WHEN YOU USE THIS. It makes a lot of polish dust which you do not want to inhale. Be safe! Have fun!

The buffing system works great. I mounted the adapter on one end of a variable speed bench grinder and left the stone wheel on the other side for balance, running at the lowest speed (2,000 rpm). I used this to polish a wood airplane model I made for my grandson out of red oak. After rough shaping, I sanded with 220, then 320, then 400, making sure no scratches remained. My first project was done on the bare wood without any stain or oil. The tripoli brought out the color of the wood, and the white diamond started to give it a glass finish, with the wax the final touch. It looks shiny and clear, better than any poly or other varnish type finish, and it has a good feel to the wood. Quick and easy, once the project is sanded. It took maybe 10 minutes, including changing the wheels. I would highly recommend this for small, fine wood projects.
