More About the Author

Here are some things I have learned:

Using comics can be a fun way to tell a story.
Revising is surprisingly satisfying, but not always easy.
Some things are fun to look at, but not fun to own.
Listening is important.
Everyone has a story.
Inspiration can be fast and fleeting.
Writing is like lego - one word(brick) at a time.
Sometimes just a little good thing can change a whole day.

Hope you have a great day!!

Wow! You hit the nail on the head with this new series Bean Dog and Nugget! My son is 6 (just finishing up 1st grade) and he read both of them as soon as I handed them over to him. Then the next day he brought them into school to share and ALL the kids went nuts over them. He showed everyone his "favorite" parts and then he had to bring them home because they caused such a stir. He is begging for more! It is so hard to find good reading at this level that also makes the kids laugh. Thank you so much! Bring on #3 & #4!

I would also be remiss if I didn't also mention that we have enjoyed many other books you have written in the past. Thanks for all the years of reading.

A reviewer commented that Bean Dog and Nugget is not like Mo Willems' Pigeon books. While that conclusion is totally correct, it is not the most appropriate comparison, partly because Bean Dog and Nugget is a graphic novel, while Mo Willems' Pigeon books are picture books--these are very different genres.

I enjoyed most of this book, as did my children. It captures the "simplicity" of friendship and working through a problem. The characters come up with funny "solutions," very much like elementary aged children would.

The one thing I did not like was when Bean Dog got carried away and his pants came off. (Yes, his underwear were still on.) Children bust up laughing about that kind of thing, but there is entirely too much of it in books and other forms of entertainment today, and this book was cute enough to be a good read without it.

Wow.....what a disappointment. This book is not only small, but cartoonish in a way that is simply is not appealing.
The author trying for a Mo Willem efffect, but not as clever or smart or engagingly witty.
Price might be right, but don't bother.
