After testing the same number of tablets (5) and same mode of intake (chewing instead of swallowing whole) on the same batch of vegetable soup with cabbage, I have determined that Bean-zyme works better than Beano. Beano only delayed onset of symptoms by 2 hours. Bean-zyme eliminated the symptoms altogether. In addition, chewing Beano is like eating chalk, whereas the Bean-zyme is slightly sweetened with something, which makes chewing the tablets bearable.

I had a good sized amount of scallions, beans, butter, butter milk, pork and orange juice: This stuff works; nothing happened even though I had taken it a few minutes after eating a lot. I only had a few burps spaced out over a long time. I took two instead of one the first time like one reviewer suggested. On top of that paying just regular shipping got me delivery in 3 days.

Often 1 tablet of either brand doesnt do it for certain foods. 2 usually helps a great deal.

I wish they offered a bigger discount for buying in quantity.

For those buying 1 bottle, shipping is 26 cents cheaper at that auction site that rymes with Flea. (same price)
Edit. They no longer sell it on fleabay but I think buying it direct from their website might be a little cheaper

When I hit 40, I started having all kind of disgestive issues. Became lactose intolerant. Digestive Advantage solved that. (I cant drink milk or eat ice cream but everything else is fine)

I take a pro-biotic at least once a day and sometimes twice. That and taking fiber capsules has taken some weight off my midsection and I feel a whole lot less bloated all the time.

Throw in this generic beano when needed and its almost like I was young again. (Except when I forget to take something, then the issues come right back again !)

I hate getting old.


EDIT...a few years later.... I have since tried Digestive Advantage Gas Defense formula and its better than Beano or the knock off but its more expensive. So you have to decide for yourself if you want to spend the extra.

I would say a Digestive Advantage is about 150% as good as a beano and you can take it in the morning instead of right before. Although if I am eating especially gassy foods, I will take another right before the food.
