Leblang and Hayes, the authors of The Weekend Kitchen ( LJ 4/15/92), present a variety of simple dishes using beans and other legumes, from soups to chilis to, yes, even desserts. Sheryl and Mel London's The Versatile Grain and the Elegant Bean ( LJ 4/15/92) offers lots more information and lots of unusual recipes. Leblang and Hayes's recipes are fine but nothing special, and many are familiar. An optional purchase.
