Top Customer Reviews
The bows have enough draw weight to be difficult but not impossible for most of the 7-12 year old kids.
Many had never drawn a bow and were able to draw and release after 4 practice shots.
Most of the experienced 10-12 year old boys prefered the larger bow, but were able to compete with these.
This is exactly what we wanted.
An inexpensive way to give the kids a first experience in archery.
The two arrows that come with the kit are OK quality, but I will be replacing them. They are pretty straight and shoot fairly well. However, the tips aren't safe enough for unsupervised play. Blunt enough not to be fatal, but sharp enough to put out an eye, perhaps penetrate into the brain. I found a set of suction cup arrows on kidbow.com that appear to be better quality than what I've been able to find on Amazon. We'll keep the Bear arrows for target practice when I'm there to ensure safety. But the suction cup arrows will allow our kids to play in the back yard together without direct supervision.
I bought two complete kits. Out of the four arrows, the nock (the notched end that fits onto the bowstring) fell right off one of the arrows. Some super glue should take care of that, but I obviously had a defective unit.
The arm guard that comes with the kit is unimpressive, but adequate. The quiver is a joke - a flimsy sleeve made of fake leather with a couple slits in it to run your belt through. I'll be looking for a quality quiver, particularly one they can strap on their backs.
So you're buying this kit mostly to get the bow. Which is certainly worth the purchase price of the kit.
As for the consumer product safety issue that seems to dominate the one-star reviews for this product, I did contact the manufacturer prior to purchasing the kits.Read more ›
