I purchased this bow after looking at the Outbreak, Legion, Diamond Razor Edge, and Mathews. This bow held its own against all that I shot and the price made it even better. I got lucky and picked up the RTH package for the bare bow price. I recommend that you get the bare bow though and apply your own accessories to it. The ones that come on the RTH package are good enough for a beginner and you can hunt with them but they are not the highest quality that you can buy. It comes with a Trophy Ridge 3 Pin sight (that's pretty good but plastic), a stabilizer (good), wrist sling (not the best but works), Trophy Ridge 4 arrow quiver (decent), and a pretty bad peep sight. The only thing that I changed out was my peep to a Truglo. I also got mine in with the 70# limbs and love the fact that I can adjust the draw length without the use of a press. I am a 6'3", 230lbs with a DL of 30". This bow is more than fast enough for any hunter or general archery shooter. It is really quite and very forgiving on shots. I owned it for about 2 months when I shot in a 3D comp and took 3rd and I am shooting 3 in groups at 34 yards. Not too bad for the my first time in comp and only shooting for 2 months.

All in all, I would definitely recommend this bow to anyone that is looking for a budget bow and has the strength to draw its weight.

I bought mine from cabela's in may 2012 and have been extremely pleased. I just finished fine tuning the sights for 40 yd shots with my broadheads. The June issue of field and stream ranked this bow as the best sub-300 dollar bow on the market claiming performance rival that of high end bows in terms of quietness, forgiveness, accuracy, and general handling.

My only advice is to get the bare bow, take it to a local shop to be setup, and get accessories for it there. The trophy ridge sight and peep sight are crappy. Quiver and biscuit are ok. Other than that, love this bow.

I am new to the sport and took the advice of retailer shop owner when buying my first bow.I was not disapointed! The bear encounter is a profesional grade bow.Very smooth and super quick.I got mine loaded for 399 and didnt have to buy anything else to get shooting. If your looking for a hunting or just a target set up,this is the one to get.Im in the yellow on the target at 20 yards every time and i have only been shooting a week!
