We purchased 3 of these sets for our Junior Church Day Camp.
The bows have enough draw weight to be difficult but not impossible for most of the 7-12 year old kids.
Many had never drawn a bow and were able to draw and release after 4 practice shots.

Most of the experienced 10-12 year old boys prefered the larger bow, but were able to compete with these.

This is exactly what we wanted.
An inexpensive way to give the kids a first experience in archery.

No complaints. Very basic, yet does the trick, 1st bow. My son is almost 9 and I'm sure he'll be able to use this for a long while. If you want an inexpensive bow for any age, to learn on, I can't think of any reason why you'd be disappointed with this. It's much bigger than I would have expected. Great deal!!!!

We got this bow for our son's 5 year old birthday. He loves it and it works well for him. I didn't think he would be able to pull it back but he did just fine.

This bow functions well for what I expected. I bought the compound bow for my 5 year old son and this Bear archery kit for my 3 year old son. He is slowly getting the hang of it and wants to learn how to shoot like his big brother. The arrows that come with the bows are decent. Overall I am happy and would recommend this product.

I bought this for my son for his 4th birthday and he loves it!! I wanted to get him a bow that was made for his age but not one of those fake ones that don't shoot very far and this one was perfect! Will definitely be buying a target and more arrows for it.

The biggest problem with this set is that the bow isnt strong enough to shoot the arrows straight. At first I thought it was my 5yr old just not pulling it back far enough, so i pulled it and shot a few arrows. Every arrow that comes out of it "kicks" sideways and will bounce of of the target being it flies at a sideways 45 degree angle. The plastic fletchings are really stiff and cheap, thats the main reason, there is no "give" as the arrow leaves and the fletchings bounce off of the bow handle instead of sliding past. I let him use my carbon arrows with feathers and they shoot straight. So... the bow is good, My son is 5 1/2, he has no problem pulling it back. The arrows are ok, but if you dont want your kid getting frustrated in a hurry, either re-fletch with feathers, or get replacement arrows with feathers.

My 7 year old grandson loves this bow and arrow set. It's his first "real" bow and arrow. The price was reasonable and the merchandise is sturdy. A great buy!

First off, I like the bow a lot - a friend has one for his kids and I specifically sought out the exact same product. It is very well-made, sturdy and a great size for a 4 to 12-year-old. My 8-year-old daughter has no problem fully drawing the bow and holding it steady. My 6-year-old son is still getting used to it after only a couple of days, but I'm sure he will get up to speed quickly.

The two arrows that come with the kit are OK quality, but I will be replacing them. They are pretty straight and shoot fairly well. However, the tips aren't safe enough for unsupervised play. Blunt enough not to be fatal, but sharp enough to put out an eye, perhaps penetrate into the brain. I found a set of suction cup arrows on kidbow.com that appear to be better quality than what I've been able to find on Amazon. We'll keep the Bear arrows for target practice when I'm there to ensure safety. But the suction cup arrows will allow our kids to play in the back yard together without direct supervision.

I bought two complete kits. Out of the four arrows, the nock (the notched end that fits onto the bowstring) fell right off one of the arrows. Some super glue should take care of that, but I obviously had a defective unit.

The arm guard that comes with the kit is unimpressive, but adequate. The quiver is a joke - a flimsy sleeve made of fake leather with a couple slits in it to run your belt through. I'll be looking for a quality quiver, particularly one they can strap on their backs.

So you're buying this kit mostly to get the bow. Which is certainly worth the purchase price of the kit.

As for the consumer product safety issue that seems to dominate the one-star reviews for this product, I did contact the manufacturer prior to purchasing the kits.
