. . . a first timer, my-dad-is-not-an-archer/bow-hunter child. I bought this for my 11 year old son for making Gold Honor Roll at school! This is exactly what he was looking for. He didn't want a toy one for "little kids" (suction cups? dad really, c'mon) and I wasn't spending 50$ on one! Here is the perfect middle ground. It has enough draw length and weight (shoot strength) for him and it is not a toy bow. He plays with it every day and enjoys it! For NARNIA!!! Target shooting only, no neighborhood pets or anything. Great first bow for the older kid, even up to 16ish if not a serious archer. It completely meets my expectation as well, except for the target and cheapy piece of vinyl quiver. Both are not that useful. A third arrow would've been better but you can easily buy extras on Amazon or a local sports/outdoors store. How satisfied am I? The day after it arrived, the first time we played with it, the younger brother wanted one too. So I bought another one on Amazon! A smaller version, the 1st Shot model. On the fence on this one? Allow me to push you over!

I coach a large archery club at a local high school and ordered a bunch of these bows for beginning students. They loved the bows! Granted, the bows look small and skinny, but man do they shoot well. I have a personal collection of many classic and high end bows, but, by far, these are the best and easiest solution for a large group of freshman to juniors, that I have seen. Price per performance, these really work.

I bought this for my 11 year old son for Christmas. He loves it! It works well and it is not a toy.

I give the bow 5 star, but the arrows 2 star. Their hooks broke a week after I got it, and it's fletching rips very easily. Good bow for beginners.

I bought this for my daughter since she learned Archery at Girl Scout and wanted to play/practice at home. The bow is steady and well made. The only she complained was that there is only 2 arrows that came with the bow. The target is a piece of roll up paper and not useful at all. We have to find a different target that is more sturdy and can be hanged.

My picky son loved this. I had to buy a "real" target for him and the arrow holder is worthless But I knew that and expected it. We have bought several arrows since the first batch and he still loves going out in the yard and playing with it. I'd highly recommend this for the target audience of youths who are more interested in a realistic toy that will make impressive shots into a target than anything they could use for serious sport.

If you are looking for a sturdy bow for a child, this is it! My 9 year old son loves it, is able to shoot surprisingly far (as my next door neighbor can attest), and bangs the heck out of it - still looks great and feels solid after a year of use.

this product wasnt very good. the bow was good but the arrows are not. the tips flatten easily even when shot into foam. if you already have an arrow just buy the bow separately.

This is definatly not a toy bow, it shoots very well for the price. The arrows are short for a large kid, but would work fine for smaller youths.
