5.0 out of 5 stars A Heartwarming Tale for the whole Family!!
This is a family orientated heartwarming tale about little Emily and her Bear companion Masha that makes this film very well worth watching with very beautiful and spectacular scenery!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not all there
I saw this film on Animal Planet several times and loved it so I was excited to find it on DVD. However I was very disappointed that the company distributing the DVD chose to leave several very important scenes with Gordon Tootoosis. As he is portrayed as a Native American medicine man and I can only guess that the distributor is Christian based, they chose to leave out...

5.0 out of 5 stars "So Good I could not bear it.", April 6, 2005
This review is from: Bear With Me [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This film is beyond glorious. The script is flawless and the camera work is a clear influence of Stone. This journey took me on an emotional ride at a hotel room at 2 am. The greenery made it all the better. Bear trainers should be very proud of such progress that Masha and her friend share while go cart stunting. I encourage any child across the globe to approach a grizzly in the same fashion that young Emily has in this film. I actually tried it and it worked out as well and I am still with her.

I saw this film on Animal Planet several times and loved it so I was excited to find it on DVD. However I was very disappointed that the company distributing the DVD chose to leave several very important scenes with Gordon Tootoosis. As he is portrayed as a Native American medicine man and I can only guess that the distributor is Christian based, they chose to leave out the scenes with Gordon journeying to find the young girl and then later changing into a bear himself. They were wonderful scenes and since I'm also a big fan of Tootoosis I was stunned that they would cut out the scenes. I probably would not have bought the DVD had I known this. A big disappointment to an otherwise very good film.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Story, Weak Acting, October 21, 2007

This movie actually has a good story. It has an environmental conscious message and the scenery is very beautiful. Its main flaw is that the acting is not very good at all. Many of the lines are beyond predictable and delivered so unfeelingly. The best actor in the entire movie is the bear, named "Masha". Towards the end, there's a scene where I was just about to cry when I got worried about what might happen to the bear.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Pro-Animal Rights Movie starring a Toothless, Declawed Bear., March 23, 2010

If you didn't think it was possible to make a movie like this, you would be mistaken. Hunters and Loggers are portrayed as evil in a way that showed the filmmakers' ignorance of hunting, logging, and the outdoors in general. I guess they thought kids wouldn't notice. Mine did.
The saddest part of this whole movie is the bear itself. It was obviously fed a poor diet and was overweight and sloppy. The majority of the bear's teeth were gone and it was de-clawed. One of the worst looking specimens of a black bear I have ever seen. I will say that seeing this bear was the closest I have come to crying during a movie in a long time.
Overall, I would guess the piece was put out as a pro-greenie propaganda film, and it even does this poorly. Don't even get me started on the racist angle (a Native American doing a rain dance, I'm not kidding).
