Book Description

March 27, 2012
He's big, burly, and way smarter than your average shapeshifting bear. He's also about to get trapped by own his game...Lou Crushek is a reasonable, mellow, easygoing kind of guy. But once someone starts killing the scumbags he works so hard to bust, that really gets under his fur. Especially when that someone is a curvy she-tiger with a skill set that's turning Crush's lone-bear world upside down - and bringing his passion out of hibernation...As a member of an elite feline protection unit, Marcella Malone has no problem body-dropping anyone who hunts her kind. But Crush is proving one major pain in her gorgeous tail. The only reason she's joined forces with him is to track down the wealthy human who's got her entire species in his ruthless sights. It sure isn't because Crush's stubborn and contrary attitude is rubbing Cella in all the right ways...

4.0 out of 5 stars Bear Meets Girl - More Pride Series fun! March 27, 2012
By Jess
Format:Kindle Edition
The one thing you're guaranteed to get with any Shelly Laurenston book is a ton of humor centered around many different character interactions. I look forward to revisiting all the series characters with any new book as well as getting to know how our new leads will fit into this crazy world. BEAR MEETS GIRL gives us Cella Malone, a psycho, aggressive, playful at times, feline whose great loves in life are her daughter, her position as enforcer on the hockey team and her job. In that order. And her man is a polar bear shifter, Lou Crushek (Crush), who is just the sweetest bear you'd ever want to know. He hates change and the book opens with Crush hung over after drowning his sorrows in a tray of jello shots, as he frets about his new job transfer that will now partner him up with Dez and her police force. He's a guy who likes his nice, quiet, simple life. He comes home to a quiet house, with his foster dog and just is. Until Cella sets her claws on him and turns this bear's life upside down.

The suspense storyline takes a backseat to all the character interactions, but I love it that way. Although, this particular suspense plot involves Crush's foster mom, and her need to stop Crush from finding out a truth that could and will ruin her. In order to get him off her back, she orders a distraction that impacts Cella and her future. In that sense, the suspense portion plays a big role in the direction Cella's life is going to take at book's end.

What I always look forward to most about this series are the characters and their insane personalities. Every single person is different, and I love the mix that Laurenston always gives us.

4.0 out of 5 stars Antagonistic Bear Meets Brawling Girl, need coffee! March 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
OK! I pre-ordered this book and read it almost as soon as it downloaded to my Kindle. From 11:30 p.m. until 7 a.m., I was stuck to this book like glue... except for bathroom and food breaks... and below are the reasons I gave it 4 stars (novel length, about 407 pages [e-book], 5723 marked locations, Table of Contents included):

1.) I actually would like to give it 3.5 stars instead of 4 stars... I liked it, but it was not as funny or engaging as other Pack/Pride books by Shelly Laurenston. The intimate encounters between Lou "Crush" Crushek and Marcella "Bare Knuckles" Malone are pretty hot, but not as romantic or emotionally engaging as in previous books. The story line intros a shifter "group" seemingly from no where, and although this is much more of an ensemble cast of characters, details of each character -- except Crush and Cella -- are slim... you will have to read other Pack/Pride books for their details. Cella's family is pretty detailed, but Crush's family is only moderately touched on. Crush's character also starts out with another nickname: Lou "By The Book" Crushek, but by the middle of the novel, he's pretty much given up his moral high ground. Not even sure why, other than something to do with shifters versus humans and Crush starting out as a under-cover vice cop for the NYPD (human division). Oh, and his foster mother is a crazy bear shifter with her fingers in a lot of illegal honey pots, and Crush enjoyed being on the good side of law which drove her even more crazy. The only other detail you'll find is that Crush has two brothers... but I don't want to spoil that surprise, which is a little bit of a funny read.

3.0 out of 5 stars A little disappointed March 31, 2012
Format:Paperback
Well I have to say after waiting and waiting with bated breath for the next Shelly Laurenston book I was a bit disappointed :( The charcters just didn't have the chemistry, they weren't even in the same place for half the book and the humor I just love from Laurenston just wasn't there either. Oh well I think I will go back and re read the earlier books so I can remember why she is one of my favourite authors.

1.0 out of 5 stars One of the worst books I've ever read May 19, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I am sure this author worked really hard on this book and someone thought enough about it to publish it and maybe, just maybe I needed to have read the previous books in this series to get the world the characters live in, but it was one of the worst books I've ever read. There was no discernable plot going on, the heroine seems to act like a 10 year old and the characters wallow around the same thoughts over and over. I only made it through about 20% of the book, before I stopped and wouldn't mind a refund if they gave them out. I purchased this on Amazon recommendations, because I like Laurann Dohner series books, they are far, far removed from the quality and much more realistic and sophisticated characters Ms. Dohner writes.

3.0 out of 5 stars Shelly laurenston is loosing her touch. April 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Let me just start off by saying I fell in love with shelly's books when I first stumbled upon "here, kitty, kitty" (Nikolia and Angelina). I absolutely loved Gwen and locks book, and conall and miki, and Blayne and bo. But sometimes Shelly is a hit and miss kind of author, some of her books I do not like at all and this one falls into that category I'm afraid. There were some funny parts that I chuckled and smiled at but it wasn't as funny as the others, nor was it as lustful. And what I mean by lust full is that these two didn't seem a likely match at all! I don't even know what the hell happened. One moment he doesn't like her and then all the sudden he loves her, I kept looking back to see if I missed something there. Another problem I had with this book was the time they spent together, I mean I was already half way through the book before they actually started to be around each other more which really bothered me. The characters didn't seem completely developed, and the main girl was a big childish for being almost 40, and crush was OK but didn't seem like I connected with him at all. He was kind of flat when you compare it to the other male characters in her other books. All in all, it was an Ok book but it just seems like her last couple books have been going downhill. I hope she bounces back and gets in her groove again and creates the characters I know and love from her.
