5.0 out of 5 stars The Very Best Guide to the Care of Bearded Dragons
My husband and I have read basically every book on the subject of Bearded Dragon care in our quest to provide our babies the best possible life. This is BY FAR the best and most knowledgeable book available on the market. I would recommend this book to anyone with a genuine interest in these beautiful reptiles. 3.0 out of 5 stars Good basics
Very basic information about raising a beardie. I thought it'd be much more in depth and cover more of the animal and it's behaviors and how it should be properly taken care of and habitat set ups.

This is a very excellent reference manual for anyone who wishes to keep and enjoy Bearded Dragon lizards. It is eminently readable, well-organized, and gives the reader a clear idea of what to do and what not to do as regards raising Dragons. These animals have become very popular as pets in many parts of the world due to their cool appearance, nice personalities, and hardiness. This book gives the reader pretty much what he or she needs to know in selecting and caring for a Bearded Dragon. Although much of this information can be found for free on the Internet, I nevertheless enjoyed reading this book and I did learn some new things about caring for dragons. Further, some of the information on the Internet is either wrong, or at least controversial. This book derives its sources from qualified veterinarians and naturalists.

One of the things I really like about this book is the "FAQ" (Frequently Asked Questions) that appear throughout the text. These are generally Q & As to common problems and errors in raising Bearded Dragons. I wish I had had this book when I first got my Beardie; I made one or two of the errors that this book warns about.

If you are going to buy one book about caring for Bearded Dragons, this one is the one to get. It is also a fun read.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is one you should read before you get your dragon., March 12, 2003

This was a good book. There were lots of info on the animal, vivarium setup, proper feeding techniques for all age groups, sign's of diseases, proper care while breeding, things to look out for, and so on. This book just about covers everything you need to get started. This is something you definetly should read before you get your dragon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Will make your beardies happy, October 5, 2006
I bought this book when I first got my beardie. I didn't know anything about these animals except what I had been told by the pet store. This book is a lifesaver. It is wonderful, very educational. It covers general information, how to prepare a proper habitat, how to care for your pet, as well as breeding. There is information on some common health problems and other reptiles closely related to beardies as well. This book has been a real help to me while ensuring that I provide the best for my beardie.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful, February 21, 2006
For those who have decided to obtain one or more bearded dragons for pets or breeding will gain a lot from the reading of this book. It emphasizes the caretaking, but there is some discussion included on the biology of these reptiles, fascinating as they are. Coming from Australia, their physical appearance reminds one of the famous Tuatara lizard, which inhabits New Zealand and is now threatened with extinction. If one could obtain Tuataras and breed them successfully in captivity, they would make even better choices than bearded dragons for pets for serious keepers, and would assist in the survival of the Tuatara.

As it stands though, bearded dragons are interesting reptiles to keep as pets, and require modest care. This book gives several useful hints on proper lighting, diet, and temperature for bearded dragons. There is of course a large amount of information that can be found on the Web on the care and breeding of bearded dragons, but this book could still be viewed as an introduction to that information. And outside of the usual concerns about diet, lighting, and temperature, disease and parasites can be a problem with bearded dragons as well as is the case for any other pets. There is an entire chapter in the book devoted to the diseases of bearded dragons.

It came 3 days earlier than it was supposed to. Which was amazing! Has good info about bearded dragons except for substrate, never use sand, idc what anyone says! No sand! But feeding info is great and handling and care! Definitively a good first book! I would recommend that you go to beardeddragon.org for more in depth care info.

My son asked for a Bearded Dragon for Christmas so I got him this book for his birthday as a prep for what to do and expect when he gets his Dragon. I looked through the book before giving it to him and after he read it he was so excited. He has been spouting off random facts to me ever since. This has also sparked further interest and he is doing more research. I am glad that I found this book and would recommend it to anyone getting a Bearded Dragon for the first time.
