This review is from: The Bears Are Running (Audio CD)
Terry Bozzio really pulls out the stops on this recording. From the basis of Tony Hymas compositions (with the exception of a Duke Ellington cover "Happy Go Lucky Loco"), the band improvises and creates an incredible blend of jazz, rock, classical and various world music. The playing is incredible throughout the disc. Tony Hymas (Jeff Beck) on keyboards, Tony Coe (Frank Sinatra to George Harrison) on saxes and Hugh Burns (remember Gerry Rafferty's "Baker Street"?, and Ute Lemper's incredible new album "Punishing Kiss") on guitars. The band honed their skills on two previous albums and many live dates, and it all comes colliding together on this album. This album was originally released in 1994, but never was obtainable in the USA before now. I'd love to see where the band would have gone to if they had made a fourth album together. Start with either "Lonely Bears" or "Injustice", but definitely work your way out to "The Bears Are Running".
