Winter fun for brother and papa bear,
This review is from: The Bears' Christmas (Hardcover)
"The Bear's Christmas" by Stan and Jan Berenstain is a fun book both you and your child will enjoy. This is one of the Berenstain books that rhymes -- I like those best.
Brother bear gets a sled, skis, and ice skates for Christmas. Papa bear takes Brother bear out to show him how to use his new equipment. Papa bear tries to show Brother bear how he used to sled, skate, and ski when he was a cub. Things don't go as Papa bear plans ... My daughter and I really enjoy reading this story.

Our family calls this "the DAD book",
This review is from: The Bears' Christmas (Hardcover)
My two and a half year old son loves this book. It is all about the Berenstains bear dad giving and teaching his son to use skis, skates and a sled. Its a great father/son book. Its hilarious because the dad is so smug about teaching these things but everytime he tries to teach, he has a calamity. Basically its the Tim Taylor of Berenstain Bears books. Its also a great book for getting your child interested in winter outdoor activities.

One of the "early reader" Berenstain Bear books, not one of the "moral message" ones,
By Ulyyf "Connie" (NYC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Bears' Christmas (Hardcover)
This one of the earlier Berenstain Bear books. As such, the book lacks a moral message (other than, perhaps, "Sometimes Dad is a bungler") and is shorter than the ones they write nowadays, with rhymes and easier words. More humor, too. If you're only accustomed to the paperbacks that they're writing now, you'll also be surprised at how the bears look - they have claws and are a lot less "cuddly" than the bears are nowadays.
Some of these words are a little difficult for EARLY early readers - "figure sixteen", "practice", "wrapped" - but if your kid is reading near you it's easy enough to help them on those few words.

Hilarious Christmas Morning Story,

This review is from: The Bears' Christmas (Hardcover)
This is definitely one for fathers to read to their children. Set in rhyming dialogue format, the pace is fast and witty. Meanwhile, the art quietly depicts what actually is happening.

Dads favorite book,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Bears' Christmas (Hardcover)
I loved this book because it reminds me of my dad and me, when we used to go through out the Manhattan Trails in Grand Rapids. I loved it and my dad taught me how to ski, and snowboard there just like papa bear did to his son. I just loved it the way that they spent time together. And I cant wait to go to see my dad in the winter and we can go do the same things that we do in the winter.

Young children love this book!,
This review is from: The Bears' Christmas (Hardcover)
The early Berenstain Bears books are really fun. This one, with the hapless Papa Bear showing his son how to ski, skate, etc. with hilariously disastrous results, is guaranteed to make little ones laugh. This is a really fun one!
