5.0 out of 5 stars Gotta Love Combiners, August 19, 2009

I'm a big fan of combiners (gestalts). I don't know what it is but to me they're a whole lot cooler than the rest. Magmatron arrived earlier than expected so I was happy as hell when he got here. The instructions I believe were in japanese (I think) but it was pretty easy combining him by the pictures. His poseability is alright; I think its his elbows that gets me. His wrists don't rotate either so that's another minus for me but other than that he's [...] awesome! There's no other flaws that I can think of right now. He's a great addition to my collection and I highly recommend it especially for people who like combiners.

5.0 out of 5 stars A worthy purchase...most definitely, February 3, 2009
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Beast Wars D-35 Magmatron Transformers Target Exclusive (Toy)
In the mid to late 90s when the Transformers franchise was going through the time known as the Beast Wars, Japan produced two Beast Wars series of their own. Beast Wars II saw the Cybertron (Maximals) fight the Destrons (Predacons) for control of Angolmois energy capsules. The Maximals with the exception of Lio Convoy were repainted if not exact copies of certain Beast Wars figures. The Predacons with the exception of Galvatron were all reused G2 figures and their upgraded forms were cyber-enhanced Beast Wars figs, with one being a retooled G1 Trypticon. Beast Wars Neo was the sequel series, and all the molds were new, with the Destron dinosaur alternate mode figures seeing their release stateside as the Beast Machines Dinobots.

The only one that didn't recieve a new paint job was Magmatron, leader of the Destrons. The toy is fantastic. He's a triocon with the ability to unite all three of his dinosaurs into one of two different modes. He could form Magmasaur, which is a chimera sort of creature, or it could form his robot mode, with the Skysaur forming the head, Seasaur forming the arms and back, and Landsaur forming the legs, right shoulder and chest. From Landsaur you get his sword blade/hilt/handle, and from Seasaur you get the shield. The sword handle has a trigger cause it can also function like a blaster, with the red missiles being pegged onto Skysaur's wings, and the gray missiles being stored in the shield portion of Seasaur.

However, as awesome as he is, his posability leave a tiny little to be desired. His right arm is limited by Landaur's head, and the elbows only fold in (however, that was designed with the Magmasaur mode in mind, I'm sure). His head is immoble unless you pull the Skysaur's feet off of the body, but then it looks goofy. The leg posability is kind of meh. He has knee movement, and hip movement, but nothing else.

The individual dinosaurs are cools separately as well. If you pull on Skysaur's tail, his wings move, and if you press the back fins on Seasaur, his front fins fan out, and you can make it look like he's swimming. Landsaur has no real cool feature. Skysaur and Seasaur has opening jaws and posable heads/necks. Landsaur's mouth has a spring keeping it in place. Moving it activates the trigger on the blaster that stores in his neck, enabling you to fire missiles out of his mouth.

So, if you get this guy, you won't be disappointed. But I would reccomend if you get him, to try and get ahold of his Cybertron enemy, Big Convoy. A figure who's mold was used as the 2004 Target exclusive Transformers Universe Nemesis Prime. If you have that, you know how awesome Big Convoy is.
