1.0 out of 5 stars Not enough story in this short story/example March 9, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I knew this was short, but I expect at least a bit of story in a prequel. This certainly didn't give me enough of a taste of the story to want to buy the book. Even as a freebie this was disappointing. Other prequels that I've read have often left me hanging for closure, but at least there was a real plot to them. Very very unsatisfying.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not enough detail October 11, 2011

I like the option of getting a sample of a book. But, two previews of other books, not a great way to intoduce the stories, at least I think it is about two other books. There was not a lot of anything.. information or the stories.

1.0 out of 5 stars Publishers - This is a Bad Idea September 30, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As you can see by all of the reviews and the low ranking of this title, readers do not like this marketing tactic for ebooks.

Samples may work well in the grocery store, but they do not fare the same when it comes to ebooks. We have the option to download samples to our ereaders.

Potential readers will glance at this ebook in a list of options, see the two or one star average and keep on going. In the back of their mind they will think - this author must stink. Instead, I suggest publishers offer the main title for free - even for a limited time to drum up interest.

It was ok but way to short. Possibly a very good series but not very full of heart. Do the other books cost money?

1.0 out of 5 stars Too boring to hold my attention September 4, 2011
By ManaB
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book or sample of a book lost my attention within the first few pages. As a mid-twenties woman, I usually enjoy a good young-adult book, but this wasn't good. Maybe younger teens would like it...

1.0 out of 5 stars not worth my time May 3, 2011
By Sorrel
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I've downloaded other short story type previews and found them an enjoyable intro to a series (even though I get addicted to the full price books), but this was ridiculously short and not nearly entertaining enough to make me want to buy the 13 to Life book. Instead of a "prequel" type of story, I felt like I was dropped into a scene in the middle of the story. And worse yet it is a deleted scene. NOTHING HAPPENS. I don't know who these characters are and I don't learn enough to care about them. I don't usually take the time to write a negative review of something free but it was just completely a waste of time.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great intro to 13 to Life December 18, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have not yet read 13 to Life so this was my first glimpse at the characters and the first time I've read a prequel short story before reading any of the books in a series. It was a great introduction to the series and to the three female characters - Jessie, Amy and Sarah.

The author's writing style is very easy and has a nice flow and the short story has just enough mystery to lure you into reading the full length book.

This story does not require readers to have read 13 to Life in order to enjoy or follow along.

The book itself was good, but it could have been longer. I generally liked the story, but felt like it could have been longer.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too short even for a short story
Scenes from a short jog. Even for a short story, this was too short to figure out whether or not you would like it. The author should have added about 25 pages at least.
