This review is from: Beat Binge Drinking: A Smart Drinking Guide for Teens, College Students and Young Adults Who Choose to Drink (Paperback)
As a parent and educator, I highly recommend Beat Binge Drinking. It not only defines what responsible drinking is for kids thinking about drinking or drinking already, it also deals directly with issues like stress and low self-esteem that lead young people to binge drinking. It does this in a thoughtful, respectful manner that youngsters can understand and relate to.
There's been a lot of talk about parents allowing their kids to drink with them - to get their "feet wet" at home, instead of with their friends. The problem with this is kids can pick up bad drinking habits at home from parents just like they can from their peers. That's why this book is so important. It gives responsible drinking guidelines that everyone should live by - not just young adults but parents as well. It would be great if parents and young adults read and process the info in this book together. Everyone would be on the same page as far as beer is concerned. I hope it won't take years for adults to "get" this book. If your teen or college student is drinking, thinking about drinking or is exposed to drinking, it could help keep them on the straight and narrow and out of trouble with alcohol. Well worth the price of Beat Binge Drinking. |
