An Invaluable Book,
By "blissessence" (Irvine, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I Beat Cancer: 50 People Tell You How They Did It (Paperback)
This book has just been published. As soon as I came across it, I ordered it. Within two days I'd read it all. Some stories are only two pages long, some much longer. I suppose the good news and bad news is that they are written by the patients themselves...most of whom are not good writers. What does come through is candor, courage, and the sheer delight of having beat cancer. Nearly all the stories involve "hopeless" late stage cancers, including breast cancer, lung cancer, brain cancer, melanoma, ovarian cancer, pancreatic cancer, multiple myeloma, colon cancer, prostate cancer and lymphoma. Real people who beat real cancers. Each story is different. A number of different diets, supplements, mind-body approaches and clinics were utilized. However, you'll soon pick up on commonality of certain aspects: a tenacious desire to live, dietary changes, a "taking control" of the healing process, and spiritual renewal. For those struggling against the odds, this book offers tremendous inspiration and hope. An added plus is that these patients are available to speak with others.

Personal success stories to give you courage,
By
This review is from: I Beat Cancer: 50 People Tell You How They Did It (Paperback)
A cancer diagnosis usually frightens the patient. This book is very valuable to build courage. Many of these 50 people describe their own fear at various stages of recovery. But what they have in common is that they "took charge of their own health care." In most cases, they got a negative prognosis from a conventional cancer doctor (oncologist). But they sought out second and third opinions until they found a doctor, clinic and/or a combination of substances that worked.
These obviously unedited descriptions are gripping and convincing because they are in the patient's own words. Many of them (about 20) used some form of the Gerson Therapy. There are much easier and less expensive treatments available now. One doesn't have to go to Mexico anymore to get competent treatment from physicians using Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). So, a cancer patient should not look to this book to find the optimum treatment or clinic. That is not its purpose. Read it for the inspiration that every cancer patient needs.

This book will build your faith. God is no respecter of people. If thse guys got healed, so can you!!!! Also check out Henry Wright's "A More Excellent Way" to see how to fight spiritually. "Deadly Emotions" by Don Colbert is good as well.

This review is from: I Beat Cancer: 50 People Tell You How They Did It (Paperback)
This book was recommended to me by a friend to help a loved one of mine who was recently diagnosed with cancer. The stories in this book are a true inspiration and are helping us get through these rough times. Zack Vaughan and the folks at awareness publishing are wonderful people for putting together such a treasure. God bless you, Zack Vaughan!

Some good stories,
By S. Welsh (Iowa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I Beat Cancer: 50 People Tell You How They Did It (Paperback)
Some of the survivor's stories are very entertaining, if not well-written. The fact that many of them were willing to go "outside the box" and do their own thing was commendable.
I was hoping for more information and more of a variety on alternative treatments than what the book delivered.

I would highly recommend reading this book to those with terminal cases. It's an uplifting reading that provides hope and more importantly enables one with a wide range of people's experiences HOW to beat cancer using unconventional methods.
