5.0 out of 5 stars Instant Classic!, Dilla is in the heavens rockin his head to dis, To the so called Hip Hop Heads, DON'T SLEEP ON THIS CLASSIC!
First off I love anything that has to do with J Dilla and Madlib. This album takes you on a journey through classics soul samples and bangin beats! This is truly a tribute to J Dilla, no question! For all you hip hop cats this is the album to have in the collection. Madlib is definitely one of the top elite producers in the game, hands down!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Madlib's best work
Madlib's cd, Beat Konducta 5-6: A Tribute to Dilla, is not his finest work. The mix is choppy, and the beats are too short. A bit chaotic, becoming an annoyance to the listener. Nuff respect to Madlib for other projects such as Blunted in the Bomb Shelter, and Medicine Show series. More life, more joy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Will Grow On You, November 8, 2009
When I first bought this CD, gave it a listen and I thought it was ok, nothing great. I liked about 4 tracks out of the 41 or 42. As time went on though, I started to love more and more of the tracks that I had paid no mind to before. Now I love every track on this spectacular album! Hands down 5 stars. Get it even if it isn't your style because it will grow on you!

5.0 out of 5 stars The the ultimate tribute to J Dilla, February 28, 2009

This is an album you got to listen to with headphones. I catch something new everytime I listen to it. Yes, this is an album you can rock from beginning to end. You have to at least listen straight thru each suite. Madlib, with the help of J Rocc, are letting music say so many things about an incredible beatmaker that was and continues to be loved by many.

This is exactly what I would expect from Madlib! Five star excellence!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect, beginning to end., September 8, 2011
This review is from: Beat Konducta Vol. 5-6: Dil Cosby & Dil Withers Suite [Explicit] (MP3 Download)
I bought this a year ago, and this is still one my favorite things to listen to, anytime.. I never was a hiphop fan before I listened to Madlib (Lootpack, Madvillain). This album is put together SO WELL from the beginning to end, some o fthe sounds you may not agree with at first but if you've ever tried swapping tastes in music you'd know it takes time to appreciate different things. Beautifully orchestrated album. Coming from a Jimi H, Mastodon, Atmosphere fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Madlib - a man possessed., May 24, 2011
This review is from: Beat Konducta Vol. 5-6: Dil Cosby & Dil Withers Suite [Explicit] (MP3 Download)
Sittin' on the train, ears plugged to Madlib's lick, I can say I'm a groupie. One glimpse of his wikipedia page, and you meet a man possessed. Bursting all sorts of music out, under several alter-egos, the man's work is impressive. A genius secluded in a dungeon. Read some interviews with him.

This album is a tribute to the late great hiphop beatmaster-producer-icon J-Dilla, the hard working man hiding behind stacks of quality hiphop productions and beats. Back in African drum-song-dance rituals, the Beatmaster used to give his tribe the ONE, the PULSE, the BEAT. Same here: the modern Beatmaster was Dilla. His tribe? millions and millions in the hiphop and black music community. And he's gone for several years now.

To enjoy this mixup of 42-beats, you must enter Dilla-mode, head nodding and everything. It's mostly an instrumental dish layered with excellent beats and samples from Madlib & Dilla's crates.

5.0 out of 5 stars J Dilla Would Be Proud!, July 22, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is acually the first Madlib album that I personally own, and it was well worth the money, and since J Dilla has passed away from Lupus on February 10, 2006 Madlib "The Beat Konducta" currently is the closest thing to J Dilla as far as production wise. For thouse of you that has not purchased J Dilla's Donuts album, I suggest that you do so because it showcases the man's genius, but back to Madlib. His tribute to his fallen friend J Dilla is a great one from start to finish an not one wack track in the bunch and if Dilla is listening up in heaven, he would be proud! It's unfortunate that people nowadays listen to a bunch of symplistic type beats where there's no creativity what so ever and it make the airwaves which is B.S. This album is no B.S.! and I like this album so much that I think that it's the closest thing to J Dilla's Donuts, MAYBE even better...MAYBE!

This record is 42 very well mixed instrumental hip hop songs. There's a bit of voice samples but the beats are worth the price!

5.0 out of 5 stars Remember when hiphop use to sound like something unique every release?, April 3, 2009
Well Madlib is still making those new unique beats we use to hear when hip hop artist was about not sounding like the next guy. This is originality at it's best. If you're sick of all the garbage todays artist are spittin' over beats, take a break from that and take in a breath of this refreshing selection of beats by Madlib. A twist around every corner, with an action packed approach to Beat making. Also go get Vol. 1-2 and Vol. 3-4, hell if you like MUSIC, get anything with Madlib on it and you'll be on your way to having a better hip hop selection than the garbage coming out now!
