Product Description

BeatLab makes it easy to practice and perfect a variety of rhythms and styles. You can simply select one of the rudiments" (basic rhythms), or use the convenient sliders and keys to program your own rhythm for practicing. BeatLab will play the tempo and will flash its two-colored LED to help you feel the beat. The red light indicates the strong beat/left hand while the green light indicates the weak beat/right hand. BeatLab is designed with an extra-loud volume so that it's easy to hear what's going on even if you're wearing headphones. BeatLab isn't just great for drummers. Any player will find it indispensable for brushing up on their performance technique. For just the right feel, try out BeatLab's Program mode. Use it to build your own simple or complex practice patterns. You can combine up to nine types of rhythm and accent at a beat or tempo that you specify. Use quarter notes, eighth notes, sixteenth notes, as well as triplets - you can even choose five to nine strikes per beat. Adjust the rhythm and accent volume using BeatLab's five sliders to create an original pattern that's just right for you. BeatLab can store twenty-four programs in internal memory. There's also a Chain mode that will memorize eight chains, each containing up to sixteen programmed patterns. You can also make the tempo speed up or slow down gradually, or switch the rhythm between eighth notes, triplets, and sixteenth notes while you practice. Tap Tempo function lets you set the tempo by tapping a button. Headphone jack and adjustable volume. Operation and settings are made easy by the basic layout of sliders and keys. Backlight display for good visibility. Battery operation (four AAA alkaline batteries) or AC adapter.

This item is not a tuner/metronome its just a metronome. So if your looking to buy this item remember its just a metronome. Its a very good one i might add. This is the reason why i kept it very good for practicing. Hey Amazon fix the heading for this product. :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Learning to subdivide the beat? This is the metronome to get, August 1, 2009

This review is from: Korg BeatLab Percussionist's Rhythm Training Metronome
I got this metronome because I've been doing some studying on subdivisions of the beat. Most metronomes will do eighth note triplets (3 subdivisions per beat), and sixteenth notes (4 subdivisions per beat). It's not as easy as you think it might be to come across a metronome that divides the beat even further - into pentuplets (5 subdivisions per beat), sextuplets (6 subdivisions per beat), septuplets (7 subdivisions), and on to thirty-second notes (8) and nonuplets (9). This metronome delivers the goods. Now I can tap out 5, 6, 7, and 8 subdivisions with ease. Once you get 5, 6, 7 and 8 down you'll have what you need for all intents and purposes - but know that the same principles apply to subdivisions of 9 or more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice but takes some getting used to, April 16, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Korg BeatLab Percussionist's Rhythm Training Metronome
I bought this for my 10 year old son so he could use it while learning how to drum. It has a lot of functions that he's not yet needing which hopefully means he'll be able to advance in his skills without having to buy another one. I like how its easy to set a beat by just double tapping the "Tap" button at the rythum speed you want. It calculates the pause time between the first and second tap and sets the tempo accordingly. It also has secondary beats of a faster strike time that you can turn on or off with the 5 slide pods. I bought this product based on other reviews I've read and am happy with this purchase.
