Allan's review from March 2010, February 27, 2010
This review is from: The Beatles Across the Universe: John, Paul, George and Ringo on Tour and on Stage (Hardcover)
The book arrived today and I was sadly disappointed! Mostly shots I have seen many times before, offering nothing very new in the the text. My favorite tour by The Beatles (1966) was completely glossed over! I had expected some really good stage shots from the U. S. tours but no, it was not meant to be! Even the live shot from the Budokan was horrible and very little if any stage shots from the 3 dates in Germany!! I was also looking for more color shots from the 1965 U. S. and British tours, but no! The book could have been better served with more memorabilia (IN COLOR!!) like: tour posters, tickets, programs.
All in all, it's OK. It's not the best Beatles book on their tours. Although, I have to say, some of the 1963 shots I had never seen. I would recommend it to novice Beatles fans but not to someone who has been following them for 40 years or longer.
Thank you,
Allan
