Good,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Beatles Best (Paperback)
It's a Good book for people starting to play guitar. The only bummer about it, is it doesn't have the tab to songs with riffs, like norwegian wood, ticket to ride, paperback writer, etc. And I haven't found any songs with capos. They (capos) make some songs easier, this book keeps all original chords like f#m7 instead of a G on one song. Oh well! Great for piano.

I really like this book for guitar. It does not have tab so just a warning if you can not read music.

good but is missing an important song,
This review is from: The Beatles Best (Paperback)
A book of 150 of The Beatles Best is lacking when it doesn't include the 1963 top ten hit sung by George Harrison "Do You Want To Know A Secret". Lack of TAB is also a glaring omission for a book labeled "EASY GUITAR". A small chord diagram and counts over each measure of standard notation of the vocal melody are included instead of TAB. So its a combination of overly simple guitar instruction and standard notation of the vocal melody on a treble clef staff. No bass clef staff or rhythm staff is included. Occasionally, a chord is notated in the vocal melody which would make it hard to know what note sing.

I have owned this book for several years but had misplaced it in storage and it was just recently found. Well to make a long story short I started to play many of the songs from this book but found many of them to be lacking in accuaracy. Even simple famous songs such as yesterday didnt have right chords listed. So I went straight to the source and watched live performances on the old Ed Sullivan DVD and also a Paul McCartney concert dvd and found the chords he was playing completly different then the ones contained in this book. Now I am not saying that all the chords are wrong. Many of them sound fine. The book just is not very accurate. The chords that they do have a very clear and easy to read. This is a great book for beginning guitar players but not the book for those with much skill. I give this 3 stars because it is great for a beginning guitarist and many of the songs sound fine but there are many that are not transcribed accurately compared to the original material and not good for advanced players. |
