Good, but not as described!,
By Slim Nespit (Germany) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Beatles Classic '65 (DVD)
First thing you have to know is, that this DVD is a bootleg on a DVD-R.
It is not color, it is not anamorphic, it is not AC3-coded, it has no menue! but ... it is - for a Beatle-Fan like me - a masterpiece!!! It has the whole Paris-, NME-, Blackpool- and Shindig!-performances in watchable picture- and good sound-quality. So, where else you can buy this on DVD? Greetings from Germany

Waste of Time and Money,

This review is from: The Beatles Classic '65 (DVD)
I was very disappointed by this DVD, which is obviously a bootleg. The audio and sound quality are very poor. Basically, it's just a collection of raw footage of the Beatles during their early concerts of that year and some interviews. In spite of the poor quality, though, you can really see just how talented they really were. Only recommended for truly hardcore Beatles fans.

Review of Beatles: Classic '65 DVD,

The DVD started playing fine, but after the first minute or so it started to freexe in spots, and then froze permanently. I tried re-playing it over and over, etc., but it wouldn't play. Pretty much a waste of my money (unless my player is extra sensitive).

completist: noun: An obsessive, typically indiscriminate, collector or fan of something.
You would have to be pretty indiscriminate to enjoy this. As others have stated, it's a bootleg collection of raw video (of widely varying quality) of early Beatles performances and interviews, all of which is available elsewhere. There is no menu, no way of controlling the video (which jumps all over the place) and it's largely unwatchable. That said, there is raw footage of the band, which is interesting in places. It would be much better if it were organized IN ANY MANNER AT ALL, with chapters, a menu, etc. Then at least you could skip through sections like the extremely poor quality and seemingly interminable video of the band getting off an airplane while a narrator babbles on in a foreign language.

BOOTLEG RUBBISH,

Why not give your money to a pirate who does not respect the rights of the artists? Why not disregard the law. Go on and buy this load of horse manure and cross your fingers if it plays on your DVD player.

Beatles 1965 Lives!,
By
This review is from: The Beatles Classic '65 (DVD)
1965 was a banner year in Beatles' history. The Beatles were musically fertile and released several albums in 1965 alone. Their concert schedule was equally fast paced and viewers are treated to their television specials as well. In the spring of 1965, the Beatles guested on "Shindig!" and Paul tore the place up with "Kansas City."
The Fabs then toured Europe as well as America. They had not only re-conquered the world, but they lay a musical claim that can never be taken. The footage is clean and clear as is the audio. This is a must have for Beatle fans. |
