5.0 out of 5 stars For all dedicated Beatles fans
In The Beatles Off The Record, Keith Badman has assembled an impressive, 496 page compendium of unrehearsed interviews and outrageous opinions by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. 3.0 out of 5 stars Where's the editor?
This is a fun book to read for a Beatles fan but be prepared for the fact that it was obviously not even looked at by an editor or even written with a spellchecker. There are more errors on any one page of this book than you will find in most other complete books. I was amazed at the amount of errors. Mick Tagger of the Rolling Stones? Are you kidding me...

5.0 out of 5 stars For all dedicated Beatles fans, October 14, 2001
This review is from: Beatles: Off the Record (v. 1) (Hardcover)
In The Beatles Off The Record, Keith Badman has assembled an impressive, 496 page compendium of unrehearsed interviews and outrageous opinions by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. Their sometimes iconoclastic commentaries on the personalities, events, and issues of the day are arranged chronologically by year beginning with the opening chapters "When I Was A Boy" (covering pre-1960) and "The Hamburg Treadmill (1960) down through "Apple Crumble" (1969) and "The End" (1970). A massive undertaking, The Beatles Off The Record is a unique, essential, core title for all dedicated Beatles fans and reveals these four young men from Liverpool as no other book ever has -- or could!

5.0 out of 5 stars A WORK OF ART -- STEAK AND CHAMPAGNE, March 25, 2001
This review is from: Beatles: Off the Record (v. 1) (Hardcover)
This book is calculated to delight any die hard Beatles' fan as well as anyone fortunate to read it. The photographs and wealth of information are essential for any Beatles' fan to have; the text alone is invaluable.

Although the release of this book coincided with the "Beatles Anthology," the poor timing does not in any way diminish the significance and high caliber of this book. This is something so worth reading that I can't recommend it highly enough. It is something to savor WITH "The Beatles Anthology," not INSTEAD of it. It is like having steak and champagne; both are excellent, but TOGETHER makes for a very nice package.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Book!!, December 30, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Beatles: Off the Record (v. 1) (Hardcover)
Although as not lavishly illustrated as Anthology, this book follows the structure of The Beatles : After the Break-Up 1970-2000 : A Day-By-Day Diary , by the same author. The beauty of this book resides in its simplicity and wealth of information. A perfect companion for the The Beatles : After the Break-Up. Release this book at same time of Anthology was their mistake, bad timing, but make no mistake the book is a must!

5.0 out of 5 stars THE REFERENCE BOOK ABOUT THE SOLO YEARS !, January 30, 2002
This is a must-have book ! Really, this is the best book ever published on the beatles solo years history !!!
It's like the sequel to the "Anthology" book. The Beatles themselves, through 30 years of interviews, tell their story from 1970 to 2001. Even if you're a big fan like me you'll find a lot of information you don't already know. It even includes some very rare and beautiful photos...
All Beatlefans must have this great new book !!!

I found that reading this book is as joyful as anthology.Although this is less beautiful in artwork. But in detail it's fantastic[and the selected picture is excellent].Badman's work is not bad at all.At last, I believe that in this book,The Beatles off the record, may you can find more truth, so buy it ..for the 'boys''sake!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, April 12, 2001
By
This review is from: Beatles: Off the Record (v. 1) (Hardcover)
This book is very good indeed. It has lots of little known facts even to the die hard fan. I only wish it had more pictures, although the ones that it has are excellent. It is far better than Anthology, buy this instead! Also check the other book by this author, The Beatles after the break up.

I thought this book was a great read!. Its researched with great detail & passion from a writer who knows his stuff. I'd love to meet the writer, as I imagine that he could talk for hours about the Beatles & you wouldn't get bored!.

3.0 out of 5 stars Where's the editor?, September 8, 2010

This is a fun book to read for a Beatles fan but be prepared for the fact that it was obviously not even looked at by an editor or even written with a spellchecker. There are more errors on any one page of this book than you will find in most other complete books. I was amazed at the amount of errors. Mick Tagger of the Rolling Stones? Are you kidding me?

While it is full of interesting facts it was actually hard to read because of it's poor editing.
