The incredible illustrations on this album cover done by Dave McMacken are a big part of this album's great success. Obviously the music is incredible and the band speaks for itself, but this album cover creatively combines all the characters from the various Beatles movies, making it tremendous fun just to look at. What you are purchasing here is a Beatle collectors MUST HAVE in regards to collecting iconic Beatles collectibles and memorabilia. Not only do you get the original 2 album sleeves both signed by Dave McMacken, you also get the 2 original "Brown Lines" (equivalent to an architect's blueprints)! Once McMacken was commissioned by Capitol Records, he illustrated his vision of the theatre (phase one) and what the 'final' version should look like, once it has all the characters on it. As you can tell, the first design is vastly different from the final artwork (both of which are still in possession of Capitol Records by the way). The two 'Brown Lines' measure respectively 24 x 18 1/2 inches (theatre illustration) and 32 1/2 x 19 inches (1st full album art illustration). Both are in excellent condition and are each signed by the artist himself, Dave McMacken.
