The Beatles: Rock Band - Gameplay Trailer 2

Biography

"The story began in Harold Macmillan’s “never had it so good” ’50s Britain. It should be fiction: four teenagers with no more than eight O’Levels between them, running and biking and busing and busking all over Liverpool in search of new chords and old guitars and half-decent drum kit and any gig at all.
They were determined to amount to something – in George’s words “we just had this amazing inner… Read more in Amazon's The Beatles Store

Editorial Reviews

Very rare and hard to find lp cd. The Rarities album was designed to complement the Beatles' original twelve albums by pulling together many of their single releases not available on British LPs. Unlike Capitol Records in America, British Parlophone rarely duplicated songs issued as singles on later albums. The British Rarities (EMI/Parlophone PSLP 261), consists of seventeen tracks, including such obscure B-sides as The Inner Light and You Know My Name (Look Up The Number), along with the original version of Across The Universe and the first British release of Sie Liebt Dich and Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand (She Loves You and I Want To Hold Your Hand sung in German). Together, these thirteen albums make up most of the Beatles studio output. However, this set is not complete. One glaring omission was Hey Jude, one of the Beatles' biggest selling singles.

3.0 out of 5 stars Beatle Buyer Beware!, December 18, 2011

Please know that this is a pirate release. Rarities UK or US was never on CD. These tracks are on official CDs now, especially Past Masters (the same reason Hey Jude/The Beatles Again isn't on CD either). MFSL sure didn't release this (theres also a fake MFSL pirate of Abbey Road mono).

When the original UK LP was released in 1978, most of these tracks were never on an album there before. These classics are generally well known among the fans. This is more for completists really.

I wouldn't mind getting the edition which is combined with Let It Be. If I do come across this one, and its not too much, I'd buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rarities Beatles, January 23, 2012

Alot of these songs have been released on other compilations since this album became available with The Beatles Collection.

Past Masters Volume One and Two has all these and more.

At one stage you could only buy it with the collection which was a bit silly, if you already had the albums. So some of the songs you just could't buy,and i'm talking early 80's.

But my brother managed to aquire a copy, but i would't dare say how.

One reviewer here of this album Edger points out the good version of Across The Universe, which i agree it's much better than any other.

The Inner light is probably the best of George Harrisons Sitar based songs,or should i say best of a bad bunch.

I like the part where he say's the farther one travels the less one knows. But if you think i'm making some sort of hidden religious statement here, let's get something strait,i deal with facts, and the lyric itself i could write pages explaining how it's the greatest load of nonsense i ever heard.

Song's and they were good songs like Thankyou Girl were very hard to get as the were only released on compilations.Songs like Yes It Is were b sides of singles,so we just couldn't get them.

The German versions of She Loves You and I Want To hold Your Hand are interesting curios, but i have seldom played them.

It was apparently not The Beatles idea to record them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beatles Rarities, November 22, 2008

I was very impressed with the version of "Across the Universe" the sound effects of birds and the childrens choir made the song all that it should be, as this is a beautiful song. Also "You know my name" is hilarious. I have also now got "Inner Light" which I didn't have before. Overall "excellent"
