4.0 out of 5 stars For the Music Enthusiast that wants to know the roots, October 14, 2007
This review is from: The Beatles & Some Other Guys: Rock Family Trees of the Early Sixties (Paperback)
This is one of the cool Pete Frame Rock Family Trees that covers who was in what band and where they went to. Endorsed by Sir Paul McCartney. This one covers from the Beatles from years 1957-70 with everyone who was ever connected to the Beatles starting with the Quarrymen. If you haven't see one of these books, EVERY band page folds out with the diagram and name of each band member and where they trickled from. One the back of each fold out page, there are spectacular pictures of the featured bands. Other pages covers and documents the Mersey Boom, The Cavern Kids 1,2,3, and 4 covering bands like the Undertakers, Flamingos, Mojo's, and Valkyries. Cavern Kids 5 and 6. 7 covers bands such as, The Remo Four, The Searchers, and The Clayton Squares. These are just a few of the many dozens that are detailed. Next is a page of Liverpool 1980: Erics Progeny. An infamous club that presented just about every national and international act. This pages includes the early careers of Julian Cope, Pete Burns, Ian McCullough. Next is Paul McCartney band that covers everyone from Stuart Hamish, all the versions of the Beatles, up until Paul McCartney and Wings. Alexis Korner and associated that leads links to the Rolling Stones and John Mayall the the Bluebreakers-the R&B Boom. Next is Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames and 13 incarnations of that band. Then more of the R&B Explosion with Blues Inc, Rolling Stones info, Long John Baldry. Rod Stewart and Brian Auger page that covers Steampacket, Julie Driscoll Brian Auger and the Trinity, and Oblivion Express. The last page covers Rhythm and Blues from Belfast, The Story of Them. For the music afficionado that is fascinated of how there is a link to every band that was associated with the Beatles and other bands from the sixties.
