Book Description

October 1, 2008 Rex Collections
The whole of the Beatles' amazing TV career is covered here, from their earliest appearances on Thank Your Lucky Stars! and Ready Steady Go! up to their live performance of "All You Need Is Love" in front of the biggest ever audience in television history—and beyond. The book is a telling record of the way in which the Fab Four swept away the media attitudes of an earlier era and replaced them with their own brand of humor, as well as their own brand of seriousness. It will be a must-have addition to the library of all Beatles enthusiasts.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Fabs on the Telly!, January 17, 2012
During their musical career, the Beatles graced the boob tube on many occasions, performing their songs or appearing in various entertainment venues. Jeff Bench and Ray Tedman's THE BEATLES ON TELEVISION takes the reader on a magical mystery TV tour that encapsulates those fab moments.

The bulk of Beatle TV appearances consisted of JPG&R singing or lip-synching on shows like READY, STEADY, GO, THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW and THANK YOUR LUCKY STARS; guesting on variety shows like THE MORECAMBE AND WISE SHOW; or being interviewed by the likes of David Frost and Joe Garagiola. Highlights included their appearance at the Royal Command Performance in 1963, the Ed Sullivan shows and their world broadcast performance of 'All You Need Is Love' in June 1967. In 1967 their glorified home-movie MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR aired on BBC, garnering almost universal criticism.

Tedman and Bench recount all those telly moments in a fast-paced, sympathetic yet critical fashion. The hundreds of color and b&w photographs are the book's main selling point and they do not disappoint. They're wonderfully entertaining and evocative.

Beatles fans will want to pick up a copy of THE BEATLES ON TELEVISION. At $19.95, it's an inexpensive and charming photo-guide that will bring back fond memories of Beatle days gone by.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beatle Channel!, January 13, 2012
It's time for BTV, or Beatles Television!

This book has a delightful collection of the Beatles' TV appearances. There are 3 sections: 1962-1966; All You Need is Love from 1967 and also from 1967 "Magical Mystery Tour." The photographs are a such a treat and readers get to take a Magical Mystery Tour with the Beatles from their earliest days as a group to their later, experimental period. This is a must have for all serious collectors.

Thanks to the Digital Age and the accessibility of videos, you can make EVERY day a day you watch Beatles Television!

I want my BTV!

4.0 out of 5 stars Buen libro de fotos no vistas, October 14, 2010
This review is from: The Beatles on Television (Rex Collections) (Hardcover)
