The beats by dre. sound signature is meant to be a V-curve based response with boosted bass and treble. If you are an audiophile who prefers balanced and flat sound I would not reccommend this product. However if you're interested in colored and 'fun' sound this is not a bad IEM for those purposes.

The beats tour v1.0 also held this signature however the bass bled into the midrange and distorted vocals. For some they don't really care as long as it gets the bass that they want. After burning these in for about 2 weeks with brown, white, and pink noise I can give some impressions.

-Bass does not distort, even at the highest volumes.
-Both bass quantity and bass clarity and quality are present.
-Midrange recessed but average listeners probably won't mind too much.
-Much more balanced than the tours v1. If you're looking for boomy sound then go for the beats 1.0
-Vocals are clear and without bass bleed.

As far as build quality goes, these buds feel like glass cannons especially because of the L-shaped 3.5mm plug that goes into your audio jack. It feels very fragile and could snap easily. Other than that I don't really see a problem.

Beats have received a negative reputation for charging premium prices for mediocre to average audio quality when compared to other brands which offer the same quality of sound or better (Shure, Monoprice, Klipsch, AKG, etc). Like many other reviews will probably say, you are paying a lot for that bright red B logo on the headphones. At the $150 price point there are definitely other IEMs with better sound than the Tours v2.0; however it is nice to see Beats finally start putting effort into their sound quality, as evident from the new Studios and Tours.

Beats sound amazing, best ear buds I've owned - except a little over a month of my purchasing them the back piece of the ear bud (where the red b is) came off exposing wires. Basically the inside of the ear piece. Considering how much I paid for them, I always made sure that if they weren't in my ears, they were in the case that came with them. Always. The ear buds that were sold to me were obviously defective. I couldn't believe they were falling apart already. I've bought $10 ear buds at wal mart that's lasted longer! I tried contacting the company who shipped me the product and they wouldn't do anything, would barely reply. I tried Amazon and my claim through them was denied because it was over 30 days...by 5...5 days! So I'm basically paid 140.00 for ear buds that lasted 35 days. I would go to BestBuy or a company similar instead of risking the chance of getting a shaddy seller like I did.

I finally found the right pair of earbuds by Dre. I currently own the Solo headphones which are sort of bulky, the UrBeats which don't like to stay in my ears and when I'm wearing them my inner ears begin to itch(???). So I said I wasn't too happy with the ones I already had so I decide to try these and now I'm finally winning. I love the contour fitting and the wing tips really help keep the buds in my ears. I actually put the wing tips on my UrBeats and now they fit much better in my ears. So now I have two decent pair of earbugs thanks to the wing tips. Overall, I'd say they are better fitting and more comfortable than any of the other Beats products that I've tried. The sound quality is very good and is in the top three headphone brands. I decided to get the color red and they look great with my white iPhone. I hope this review can help someone decide which of the most popular Beats brands they should purchase.

As a musician I use Ultimate Ears and Sure in-ears, but I use beats for entertainment. These buds have awesome bass, but only if you use the correct size ear tips. The trick is to start with the largest size and work your way down only if they fall out. If the tips are too small the bass will escape your ears. There is some sacrifice of the mids and highs, I warn you, but if you want a nice, fairly full sound these should fit your bill. Good bang for your buck at $150 MSRP.

Poorly manufactured product. One ear stopped working and Beats replaced the headphones. Same thing happened with the second pair. Beats refused to replace them and wanted to charge $75 to fix the defect (an quick internet search shows how common a problem this is with Beats headphones). Would never buy another Beats product.

I purchased 2 of these, one for my wife and one for me hoping they were high quality because of the price. I used them for 3 months around 10 times and the wire in now exposed. My wife used them only four times and hers have now a false contact so the sound breaks terribly. I paid big money only for a “nice looking” packing cardboard box, but the product itself is a piece of junk. You can get something much better at a better price for sure. Big mistake !!!!

Headphones have great sound, but the included ear tips did not fit properly. Also, there is terrible cord noise, even with music playing you can still hear the cord noise. Extremely irritating.

I don't understand why there are so many negative reviews on sites out there accusing these headphones to be for trendy, fashion-conscious, non-discriminating listeners. But after having tried the Klipsch Image s4is, Senheisers - don't recall the model (briefly) Bose QuietComfort 20 noise-canceling, as well as the standard IE2s, I honestly think these are my favorite, by far. I also mostly ignored the hype of the Beats brand stuff until I tried my friend's Tour 2.0s one night at his apartment. I immediately went out and bought my own pair.

These have a very clear and bright sound. The bass response is excellent. Even when listening at extremely quiet levels it sounds thumpy (I tend to listen to my music at lower volumes) but they don't distort when played louder. Highs come out clear bright. Ultra-highs are hissy as they should be. The Bose and the Klipsch ones I tried seem to sound "muddy" even after having played music through them for a while. Almost sounded like there were frequencies missing. The highs with those never came out as bright and the bass fell into the background. I've heard people on forums refer to this kind of sound as a "flat response" whereas I've heard the Tours characterized as "V-shaped" w/respect to its response profile.

The Tours sound a tad murky at the beginning but loosen up to give a really nice and rich sounding playback. But this is coming from someone who primarily listens to trance, house, trap, electro house, techno, and other forms of eletronic dance music. And apparently these headphones really excel at clearly delineating those features that are most salient in electronic: Melody, bass, and kickdrum.
