I purchased this back in July 2013. Absolutely loved it for the first few weeks. Then suddenly the Bluetooth connection wasn't working properly. I had to either re-pair it again and that would sometimes reconnect it, OR I had to physically dock it into the system. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of Bluetooth, having to have to dock it?? Very frustrating after about a month if using this item, trying to tweak it here and there and finding all these workarounds just so I could listen to music. I spent more time trying to get it to play than actually listening to music. I came to the conclusion that maybe I got a lemon. So, I returned it and got a different one. I was wrong, the second one is just as inconsistent as the first. A matter of fact I had guest over for dinner the other night. The unit was playing fine using the Bluetooth, then after about 10 minutes it just stopped. My iPhone was next to me, about 15 feet away from the beatbox, it said it was connected but for whatever odd reason it just stopped working. Take it from me, I've given this unit the old college try now for four months and I am so disappointed because I love the way it sounds. I think most of the other "good reviews" hasn't had the unit long enough to experience what a disappointing piece of technology this is. DO not buy this. Stick with a Bose system. Been around longer and Bose spells quality.

Clear, loud sound. Room filling, satisfying low tones. Easy to use, and powerful. I am a music lover who has listened to high end speaker systems, as well as professional monitoring systems for music production. I desired to have a speaker that I could set down in my dorm, bedroom, or small apartment and fill the space with satisfying sound. I wanted a speaker with enough punch so I could feel the music as I walk around my home, and that's precisely what this speaker does.
I am not a fan of Beats audio, especially their headphones, but this portable speaker has taken me by complete surprise. The steep price tag actually feels worth it - something I would never say about most systems in this market. When I was shopping for a system, I was looking for sound quality, as well as convincing sound that I could play outside or inside and not feel 'weak'. The moment I turned this speaker on and played out music ranging from jazz to electronic- I smiled. While it does not carry strength in more subtle music styles such as classical, anything with a modern production sound really hits its strides. The sweet spot is definitely hip hop or hip hop influenced tracks, but yet still satisfying for mumford and sons/Chet Faker.
One huge flaw in the system is the Bluetooth feature. Its extremely annoying to deal with if you have other peoples devices around, or a friend connects while you try to connect. Also, the audio clarity is not always as good through bluetooth, which I sort of expected. As a remedy for this, I ordered a 1/8th inch audio cable you can plug into the back of the speaker - then into your phone, computer, tv, etc. This mode of playback works perfectly every time - now I just wish I could turn off the bluetooth feature on the system permanently!

The sound may be good but the quality of the box and the poor customer service bring my rating down. The buttons that control the volume stopped working and if it's out of warrant there is nothing they can do or suggest you do. I was syncing it with blue tooth and my android phone but since the buttons stopped working I can't do that since there is no way to do that with remote. Very disappointed. Should have bought a Bose.

I recently sold my old Apple brand speaker box that I'm surprised Apple stopped making.
It still sold for a high price at that "auction site". I thought this would blow it away, but I was wrong. This was a little more clear in the mids and highs, but the old Apple speaker box was way louder and didn't get muddy at high volume.

Any "professional" audio company will post full specifications about their product, such as RMS and peak power; also sound to noise ratio, sensitivity, frequency response etc. Their website doesn't show much of any information about their speaker boxes. I couldn't even find basic information such as how long the batteries will last, dimensions, weight, etc. I had to find some of that information on other websites.

Their company is all about selling the name of a famous and respectable music artist, and producer. I remember listening to Dre way back in the day. But this company is not making professional sound equipment. They are marketing their products to the ignorant, just want to look good, and sound loud crowd. This company should be selling shoes, not audio equipment. I quickly returned this.

So I finally broke down and got this as I needed to upgrade my system for my office. Bluetooth and all is cool but for me, Portability was a bonus. So to get right to it, the sound?

Yeah it sounds pretty good. Much better than a lot of portable speakers. Pretty crisp and nice bass. If you put it close to the floor or in a corner, Wow!!! A lot of times however, you won't have it like that so the sound quality will lessen when its in the open but overall, the sound is good. That is the Pro about the unit.

Now what made me take it back? For the cost of this unit, I expected a lot more going on with it. For one, a remote would have been nice. Second, you can't control the bass or treble. Not all the time I want to shake the cabinet or blow the house down. Just want a simple good quality of sound and that means you may have to tweak it and lower some of the boom. Not good at all that you can't control it from the box. You can't tell the volume you are at on the unit either, so you will be bouncing back and forth from your ipod/phone with the unit to find the volume. The USB only charges and you can't play it as an "aux" but must be connected as bluetooth. Its cool that you can charge it up but would be nice if it would play non bluetooth as well. ( I honestly can't remember if it has a "aux" outlet.) Then you have the 6 D batteries to make it portable. That was it for me. I mean, for the price, you couldn't get lithium or some type of charge?

So in summary, the box sounds good overall but not that great with the fact that you can't control the bass/treble, you have to use D batteries, no remote and a USB that only charges. I just believe it should have some of these basic features for a 400 dollar box! I did find something else that you would never expect that blows this out completely, its cheaper and it has those features!! Good luck with this if you get it.
