Beats & Peices, Vol II,

This review is from: Beats & Pieces 2 (Audio CD)
A pretty decent compilation split into two parts: up and down, a la Giles Peterson. This compilation follows the BBE Masters at Work format with a strong influence of Latin, Jazz and Hip Hop throughout (including a few remixes by MAW / Kenny Dope). The first (up) cd is mainly dance orientated, including some outstanding tracks by the likes of Alex Gopher, George Benson and Bourgie Soliterre. While the second (down) cd is lighter and covers a range of music from the hip hop - bluesy Handsome Boy Modelling School to the almost cheesy, but strangely brilliant version of "Street where you live" by the late Tito Puente. Overall it is a great compilation with enough different music to suit all moods, while maintaining a strong course throughout ( a general problem with some compilations). If you like the MAW, Nuyorican series then this is a must have. If not buy it anyway and enjoy. |
