I had a good listen comparing these to the original Beats. In the end, I must agree with the many others who've tried these, they are MUCH better than the beats. Bass is still predominant, but highs and especially mids are much better represented. I think it's due to the lack of noise canceling, but these are much more lively than the original Beats

At 400$, you're really not paying for sound as much as durability. These are ROCK SOLID, the entire thing is really mostly metal, except the parts with the cushions. I must stress that there are much better offerings from Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, Ultrasone (google them if you've never heard of them) IN TERMS OF SOUND. But if sound is not as important for you as durability, such that you're not an audiophile but just an average listener. I promise you these will last. Let me say again, ROCK SOLID.

My biggest warning for everyone who is reading this is the comfort factor. Unlike what you've been hearing from others from youtube (there are so many unboxing videos on these already), these are not necessarily comfortable. Let me explain why. Unlike the original Beats and other around ear headphones, these are ON EAR headphones. Usually, ON EAR headphones are built so they can swivel to how much you ears "stick out" if you know what I mean. Like how much you ears wedge out. A well known example of a comfortable ON EAR headphones would be Bose QC3, and they do swivel. NOTE THAT I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT HOW THE BEATS PRO ARE ABLE TO SPIN, WHICH DON'T HELP COMFORT IN ANY WAY. Since these headphones don't swivel, they hurt, and HURT ALOT, for me at least. If you still don't understand me, just imagine the fact that these headphones will flatten an elf's ears towards its head when worn. do you think the elf would be in pain?

If they had spent as much effort in creating a quality product with sound to match their packaging, then these would be killer headphones. But, as it turns out, the sound is mediocre. It is bass-heavy without the mid-tones or higher tones popping out in the mix.

These head-phones are over-priced for what they deliver.

I am disappointed.

This product is overrated. The sound is great for some genre music but so so for some genre. the big thing for me is that it is not comfortable.

While these look cool, they fit really bad and the audio is not that good for the price.

They fit on your ears, not over them and they press pretty hard so are not at all comfortable.

I've done direct listening tests compared to the following other headphones. The first 2 are in the same price range and the third one cost more:

Ultrasone PRO 900 S-Logic Surround Sound Professional Headphones - Black

Denon AH-D5000 Reference Headphones

Denon AH-D7000 Ultra Reference Over-Ear Headphones (Black)

All of these are *definitely* a lot better than the Beats Pros. They are also like 10 times more comfortable.

The Beats Pro look cool but really are only equivalent to $150 headphones.

I don't manhandle my headphones, yet the paint chips in tiny spots. Mind you, paint does not adhere well to the metal they painted over which is why the paint chips so easily.

I own the Solo HD's, Studios, and now the Pros, so I am no stranger to Beats. The Pros are comfortable. I don't understand why people constantly complain of discomfort, maybe they need to invest in a smaller head lol.

Overall, the audio sounds great & they are comfortable. My only complaint is the paint chipping even in the least bit. I'd rate these 5 stars if the paint didn't chip.

To ensure you receive a genuine pair of BeatsPros, order directly from Amazon and make sure it's packaged by Amazon. Avoid third party stores. Amazon IS a legitimate seller on the Beats By Dre website in case anyone is wondering.

I've owned these and the Studios at one point.compared to the studios, here's how they fare:
The good:
-Sound clearer, the highs are better
-transportation is easy because they fold up
-no need for batteries
-bass is still clear and loud, almost identical to the studios' bass but not as overpowering
-aluminum instead of plastic, so more durable and in my opinion better looking
-comes with a better aux cable
-fits tight and comfortable over your ears
-no noise cancellation but noise isolation, so if you're playing music it still is hard or impossible to hear outside noises

The bad:
-are obviously more expensive
-they are heavier, so walking around with them or having them on for a long time can get annoying
-doesnt have noise cancelation like the studios, but noise isolation instead

Overall: If you're choosing between the Pros and the Studios, I would make your decision based on these factors:
- if the extra money isn't a problem, you're using them for music production or serious music listening, and want a more full, clear sound; go with the Pro's
- if you're on a budget or the extra money could be problematic, you plan on walking a lot with them, don't like a little weight on your head, and aren't super hardcore with music but just want a lot of bass without sacrificing very good overall sound, I would go with the studios.

Overall, both are equally great, but each seems to be for people with different needs or expectations with their headphone use.
