Product Description

Over ear design, dual mode adaptive noise cancelling, includes Beats Acoustic Engine, DSP software, soft ear pads, 20 hour rechargeable battery, auto on off, visible battery fuel gauge, charge via micro USB, RemoteTalk cable, includes USB 2.0 charging cable, USB power adapter, 3.5 mm audio cable, hard shell carrying case

From the Manufacturer

The world’s most famous headphone has been completely redesigned and reimagined. The new Beats Studio is lighter, sexier, stronger, and more comfortable, with precision sound, Adaptive Noise Canceling, a 20-hour rechargeable battery, and RemoteTalk. It has all the energy and excitement you expect from Beats, plus a powerful, reengineered sound.

Features

Feel Your Music

The Beats Acoustic Engine makes your listening experience intimate, personal, and real. Our signature DSP software is designed to generate the emotional experience that Dr. Dre, Jimmy Iovine, and some of the music industry’s greatest rock, hip-hop, pop, electronic, and R&B producers want you to feel. This is how music would sound if the artist could play it back for you in person.

Put the World on Mute

Silence the noise from your daily commute or the drama from your loud neighbors with our no-compromise dual-mode Adaptive Noise Canceling. When you’re listening to music, ANC automatically strikes a balance between your music and the world outside. If you only want to use the headphone to cancel external noise, the ANC-only mode automatically increases the level of noise cancellation to create a quieter world.

What Batteries?

Dead batteries can kill your vibe in a flash. The New Beats Studio fixes this with a 20-hour rechargeable battery. To prevent wasting energy, the Auto On/Off feature turns off the headphone when you unplug, and with the visible Battery Fuel Gauge, you always know how much juice is available. Forget specialized adapters; the New Studio can be charged via micro USB almost anywhere.

Lighter, Stronger, and More Comfortable

When we reimagined our legendary headphone, we designed it like a beautiful sports car and made disciplined choices. We streamlined the New Beats Studio with fast curves, smooth surfaces, and no visible screws. We shaved 13 percent off the original weight and gave it a lighter, stronger, and more comfortable headband. We created softer ear cups and an ergonomic bellow to create a flexible, custom fit for every head shape, so you can keep your music all to yourself.

I really dig cool headphones...which is only fair seeing as I work in radio and have to wear them every day for at least 4 hours each day--generally longer than the average person, by a rather large degree. I've always been fascinated with not just sound, but good quality sound. It's been that way ever since I really discovered what stereo really was sometime back in the mid 70's (yeah, I'm old--get over it). Over my career in broadcasting I've managed to use any number of good, poor and fantastic headphones. Names like Sennheiser, Shure, Sony, Bose, Panasonic, Phillips and more come to mind as models I have either owned or used extensively in my 22+ years in radio. I understand what good sound is, and the difference between that and great sound can be miles apart depending on what it is you want and need your headphones to accomplish.

Since the meteoric rise of Beats in the last 4-5 years or so has essentially not just brought quality sound to more people, but literally created a whole new category of headphones to choose from. Do my Beats sound good? Absolutely. Do they sound great? Well, this is where I'm going to get some flak, but in my personal & professional opinion, no, they don't. I can think of a number of headphones which can evenly match the Beats for bass quality--and yet will cost you less than a third the price. Face it, these headphones are expensive. Do they offer the bang for the buck you forked out, though? No, not even close. When looking for headphones however, I must admit that I look for a few things that not everyone searches for...like durability for instance. Wearing headphones for long periods of time requires comfort as well. Sound is mighty important, but ranks 3rd in my list of what I buy, and may actually be MORE important to you than it is for me.

Until 1 hour ago I was stoked with my Beats. Quality sound and legit design – basically the full package. But 1h ago, my 4 months old $250 Beats broke in half. I was removing them of my head with one hand, from left to right, and one of the hears just came off. The left side literally just came off as you can see in the photos. How can such expensive headphones break so easily??!! Has this happened to anyone else?

I‘m a bit astonished with the absurdity of the situation!

Just received my studio beats head phones in champagne they look exactly as the picture portrays them. I'm a very happy customer. The sound quality is perfect and I was pleasantly surprised that they came with a white cord so I didn't always have to have the black and red cord. Very satisfied.

There are many things to like about the re-designed Beats Studios over their predecessors. I'll talk about what's included in the box, the new design, their comfort level, and how they perform all while making comparisons to the discontinued Studios as well as the Bose QuietComfort 25 (QC25) headphones which were recently re-designed as well.

First off, and this may not be important to some people, the packaging for these headphones is an experience. It's rare that companies put this much effort into the packaging for their products and it is a nice change. Granted, the packaging does waste a lot of resources but I normally save most boxes for electronics that I buy and I thoroughly enjoyed opening these headphones. The experience reminded me of 2003 when I purchased my first iPod and it came in a big cardboard cube with all sorts of accessories. That too was an experience and Beats (who are now ironically owned by Apple) has managed to pull off the same feat. The new Studios come with everything you need to get them up and going right away: a male-to-male 3.5mm audio cable that matches the color of the headphones (though it lacks any audio controls), an oddly colored red and black male-to-male 3.5mm audio cable with built-in controls (full iOS controls, some Android) and a microphone, a red and black USB to micro-USB cable for charging the headphones, and a black 5V 2A USB charger that can also charge other devices such as smartphones and tablets. The headphones come packaged in a color matching, semi-rigid zip case as well (black with a gray Beats logo). I find it odd that the only color matching accessories are the case and audio cable without in-line controls. The red cable with an in-line remote just doesn't look quite right when using it with these headphones.

A headphone is going to be a lot like a restaurant - subjective. We don't all like our steaks cooked the same. We don't all like our music to sound the same. Same raw ingredients. Different end result.

With that said, I simply love these headphones. Not only is their product design (in matte black) sleek, but to my ear they're the best headphone I've ever heard. And, I don't listen to hip hop and the usual genres you'd associate with Beats. Make no mistake: this is a grown-up headphone. I've been rediscovering old Neil Young and Jackson Browne records ever since I put them on my head. The sound is so rich and warm. Of course it's bassy - but not in a muddy overpowering way like in cheaper headphones (including many of Beats other models). The bass is tight, clean and counterpoints the sparkling highs.

As for the infamous 'hiss' reviewers mention. Yes, it's there. It's part of the noise canceling system. Listening to Bill Evans quietly on a Sunday morning at home I notice it. But, most of my listening is in a noisy open office during the week where I don't notice the hiss - or the throng of people around me. These headphones do an admirable job in that situation. If you want reference-grade headphones purely for listening to jazz at home, perhaps look elsewhere. For good allrounders, look no further.

I've read some negative reviews regarding durability. Finger's crossed I didn't get a lemon. They're only a few days old, so only time will tell. Meanwhile, they come with a nice case to protect them. I realize packaging doesn't make a headphone sound better, but Beats have taken a page out the Apple playbook. Their product packaging -and the customer's experience in unboxing it- is excellent.
