About the Artist

Stacie Orrico never asked to be a star. Stardom, with all its glittering promises, found her. She was discovered at 12, released a gold-selling debut album at 14, and traveled the globe to support her internationally best-selling follow-up at 17. By 18, Orrico had sold more than 3.4 million albums worldwide.

But the demands of a successful career nearly drove this young, preternaturally gifted singer and songwriter out of the music business. Thankfully, Orrico not only possesses a dazzling voice, she is also blessed with a rare maturity which enabled her to walk away from her career three years ago to rediscover who she was and what, and whom, really mattered to her. Orrico's elegant new album, the soulful, R&B-powered Beautiful Awakening, tells the story of that journey, which has landed her where she is today: in control of her life and career for the first time. --This text refers to an alternate Audio CD edition.

Product Description

2006 sophomore album from the teen diva/singing sensation who began her career in the Christian market before crossing over into the secular field. Although lumped into the same category as Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears and so many other teen stars, Orrico's musical maturity level was always a few steps ahead of that crowd.. Orrico co-wrote a majority of the album and worked with a variety of top-notch producers, including Dallas Austin, Dwayne Bastiany, Kaygee, and co-writers such as Shekspear, Track & Field, Anthony Dent, and newcomer Novel. 12 tracks including the first single 'I'm Not Missing You' . EMI. --This text refers to an alternate Audio CD edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just great!!, August 30, 2006
This review is from: Beautiful Awakening (Audio CD)
I've just bought yesterday my copy from this CD. It is meant to be out in janueary 9 in the U_S but here in Mexico it was out yesterday and all I can say is this CD is one of the most great recordings I've ever heard. The best tracks are Is It Me, I'm not Missing You, Save Me and Take Me Away, a must have!!

I've been such a big Stacie fan and I say the wait was worth of. Now I''m just waiting for my CD single for I'm not Missing You. Dont hesitate in buying it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Won me over with "I'm Not Missing You"., November 24, 2006

Dare I say it? I caved and bought this album because I was hooked on the music video of "I'm Not Missing You". Normally, I don't bother spending money on pop albums because you usually just get one or two good songs off them; the rest are just fillers, completely forgettable material. Most of the albums that I buy these days are trip-hop or new-soul jazz stuff. I can safely say that I probably haven't bought a pop album for at least five years.

So why the sudden splurge on Stacie Orrico? I'm a believer in giving an artist due credit. If I think that even just one song was able to reach me, it's worth the price of the whole album. "I'm Not Missing You" has well-written lyrics. The hook is stellar: "I'm not going through the motions, waiting and the hoping you call me/I'm not missing you/you might've had me open but I must be going because/I got life to do/I know I'm usually hanging on, I used to hate to see you gone/but this time it's different, I don't even feel the distance, I'm not missing you". It's got a catchy tune, and Stacie never misses a beat in her performance. Admittedly, the other songs on the album pale in comparison to "I'm Not Missing You". There are the usual completely forgettable songs ("Save Me", "I Can't Give It Up"). The lyrics of "I Can't Give It Up" in particular fall flat ("Now in this moment candles burnin oh, it's so easy/Got me compromising with my sexuality"). It's so blatantly obvious that it's about a girl who's trying to protect her virginity. There's not even a hit of poetry in the lyrics.

There are others that are somewhat catchy ("So Simple", "Easy To Luv You"). But if you're like me, and it's enough that you have one really great song, by all means get a copy. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT FOLLOW-UP, CAN'T WAIT FOR U.S. VERSION!, September 27, 2006
This review is from: Beautiful Awakening (Audio CD)
This CD deserves to be #1 ALL over the world, and hopefully it will be released in the U.S. Jan. '07 as planned (it was originally set for an August 29th release, but then it was postponed because of failed radio play). The first single "I'm Not Missing You" is one of the best songs I have heard in the past 3 or 4 years and it deserved to be recognized as being so (at least in my opinion it did). Here is a track listing:

1. So Simple
2. I'm Not Missing You
3. Dream You
4. Easy To Luv You
5. Save Me
6. Take Me Away
7. Babygirl
8. Wait
9. Is It Me
10. Don't Ask Me To Stay
11. I Can't Give It Up
12. Beautiful Awakening

And there is an enhanced video of her single supposedly, all the more reason to order this CD, I couldn't wait until Jan. '07 for it so I ordered my copy last week and its on its way to me as I write this. CAN'T WAIT!
