To me, this is a truly magically CD, and I highly recommend it!

Also I just wanted really one song, but ended up downloading the entire album now I have songs on my tablet I don't even listen to.
Kyma
She can take just about any song (good or bad) and make it a smash (especially if it's a ballad).

This is a lovely album showcasing some of the finest singing Patti LaBelle has done. It is a romantic Valentine from a fine singer who has been entertaining us for decades. Her voice, her phrasing, her style -- all so captivating. No collection covering such a long career could include every fan's favorites, but this comes close. I am puzzled by the criticism by one fan that this album is too slow and lacks a change in tempo. It's called "Beautiful Ballads by Patti LaBelle." Emphasis on the word "ballads." The music is what you would expect it to be.

This CD is simply the BEST. Sit down, sit back and just let Pattie entertain you. I was playing this CD this week when my door bell rang. The visitor just raved about what he was hearing and just could not leave! In fact, tears came to his eyes when certain tracks were played. (You know how it is, remembering where you were, and who you were with. WOW!) To me, this is a truly magically CD, and I highly recommend it!

I am a fan of Patti LaBelle, so I embrace everything she does musically. I ordered this particular CD for one song only: "Isn't It a Shame", had it in on a 45, and wanted it on a CD. Most of the other songs are incorporated in my collection on other CDs. But having all the good ones on a single CD is nice. I gave it only 4 stars, because I noticed how much "love" (screaming the high notes), there was in almost every song, .....and I do know that it's only getting "good" to Patti as she sings, she also is feeling the emotions which the lyrics are expressing, but ... I kinda thought there too much. But I still really, really love Patti, she is so beautiful In everything she does, and I especially love her gowns; she is so meticulous in her appearance!!!

This CD is Patti Labelle at her best because she seems to take every ballad that she sings and just takes it to church. She can take just about any song (good or bad) and make it a smash (especially if it's a ballad). She's one of those artists who transcends generations. She's a pure singer with no need for voice enhancements or a bunch of instruments to mask her defects. This is a phenomenal collection of Patti doing what she does best (out-sing the best of the best)... If you like Patti, you'll love this CD...

Since you do not have Since I Don't Have You, what is yet another retread compilation without much thought about the songs but the position on some chart. Where are the creative types that select the gems that did not chart well? Come on folks. Stop the Nina Simone-ization of Patti! Even the Essential Patti LaBelle wasn't all that inclusive.
