4.0 out of 5 stars Braiding your own hair
If you are braiding someone else's hair, most of what is here probably won't help you. However, if you, like I, are trying to learn to French braid your own hair, where you can't really see what you are doing, this book can help. In fact, I spent part of every evening for nearly 2 weeks with my hands in my hair making knots, and this book in my lap. All of a sudden my...

1.0 out of 5 stars Better books available
This book wasn't what I expected. It is small (4x6 maybe) and doesn't contain anything I didn't already know. A better book is "Great Braids" by Thomas Hardy, also available on Amazon.

1.0 out of 5 stars Good for beginners, but that's all, July 3, 1999

If you already know how to do basic braiding, don't bother with this book. It's great for complete beginners, but doesn't deal with anything more advanced than a french braid. "More Beautiful Braids" is a bit better, but is still extremely lacking.

Very very basic beginner's "I've never braided my own ponytail before" kind of book. Not at all as described ("100 black-&-white photographs", "these elegant braids will be turning heads...") Puhleeze!

In the picture and discriptions on Amazon I feel I was missled
I thought is was a nice big book with nice pictures, or at least thats how they made it seem. When I got it it was just a tiny little black and white book with drawings of braids.

good luck

I will continue to shop at Amozon

1.0 out of 5 stars Lame Braids, November 12, 2007
This review is from: Beautiful Braids: The Step-by-Step Guide to Braiding Styles for Every Occasion and All Ages (Paperback)
Not worth the money. Looks like hand sketches and too wordy for anyone who doesn't already know how to braid. Poor variety of styles. Book is very small and hard to keep open.

As a tomboy I spent most of my life with short hair. Now that I'm soooo much older and living in a tropical environment I'm letting my hair grow; its cooler to wear it up and easier to deal with the humidity. The problem is how and that's why I bought this book. All photos are black and white, its size is small which makes it easy to carry but difficult to perch on my bathroom vanity shelf. I wish there were more step by step photos so I could have my Spanish speaking hair person do these for me.

Having had short hair most of my life, I had little braiding experience to help with my daughter's long hair. This guide was to the point and illustrative. I found what I needed to know to start practicing new styles to give my daughter a unique and well put together look.

The book is very detailed, also has illustrations. It was a good value for the money. I would have liked if the illustrations would have been in color. You would be able to see the finished product more clearly. I would recommend it to others.
