I bought this coloring book for myself after buying several for a 4th grader i work with. Getting him them and colored smencils i couldn't help but treat myself as well. I picked this one because it seemed girly and pretty (i sound genius right?), but also because the images seemed mindless enough to entertain me while watching television, but detailed enough so i didn't feel like i was five. If i was buying this for a child i would say that there is a lot of detail that requires a lot of different shades of color (my 10 pack of smencils isn't covering it)and it is not made for a young kid. If you have any older girl who is really into coloring, shading, etc. then this would be a good choice. I would recommend it. It's also pretty thick (aka a lot of pictures) for a coloring book.
