Eight Great Minutes of Live U2, January 4, 2001

Anyone who's reading this review already owns All You Can't Leave Behind, so "Beautiful Day" is superfluous -- it's the live bonus tracks that you're paying for. If you've seen the in-concert Pop-Mart Live video, you know that "Discotheque" segued into a sultry "If You Wear That Velvet Dress." You might have noticed, too, that when the band released a CD of this concert to members of their fan club, "Velvet Dress" was dropped. Well, the live bonus tracks on this CD single reinstate that one-two punch, and testify to the continuing onstage vitality of U2. I had to go all the way to Europe to find this little treasure -- paid 15 Dutch guilders for it, and couldn't wait to get home to hear it.
